i'm going to my neice's wedding in bellingham, washington in may (hi
carole!). i plan to drive to seattle the night before my flight out so
i'm not frantically trying to get from b'ham to seattle that morning.
there are plenty of hotels near the airport, but my flight's not til
noon so i was wondering if there's an interesting town/place to stay
that's in the between bellingham and seattle (closer to seattle of
course). any recommendation? i don't know that part of the world at
all, although i've visited seattle, i really don't remember it. i
don't want to be "in" the city itself.

thanks,

diane

How long are you planning to stay in the PNW?

Do you know that you can fly into Bellingham?  We have our own airport
:)))  Saves the trip to Seatown.

I should have been clearer.  :-)

I'll only have an evening wherever I stay before the day I leave
seattle, so I won't have a chance to "do" much, but would love a
scenic little place to have dinner and spend the night that's not too
far from the airport. i don't know if such a place exists, but thought
i'd ask. if not, i'll just grab a room near the airport and not hassle
over it.
as for the bellingham airport. . . i spent hours yesterday trying to
figure out how to arrange that little flight without having to get my
luggage between flights, lug it around, etc. American only "co
sponsors" or whatever they call it one flight into b'ham, and it gets
in at midnight. since i'm renting a car anyway, i decided to skip the
hassle.

rose, it'll be a quick trip. just three family filled days, then i'm
off to san jose to visit my new granddaughter. (oh, yeah, and her
parents too). carole, my niece is getting married at my brother's home
on that sunday. as it gets closer, i'll know if i have time to meet
for coffee. i'd love to do that. you're someone i greatly admire.

Hi Diane,
I do understand how rushed a wedding weekend can be,  how much family
visiting there is, and how tiring the whole process can be. You will
be busy.

Maybe someday you can come on a book signing tour and we can have a
mini-RAunion. I would love to meet you and there are a few of us in
the area, so we could arrange a quick get-together.

You could stay in Everett. There's tons of stuff to do there :) Or you
could stay in Edmonds and if you want something to do, take the ferry
across the Puget Sound. On a clear day, you get to see Mt. Baker from
one side of the boat, and Mt. Rainier from the other. Edmonds is also a
cool little town to go shopping in, and there are super restaurants
there as well :)

There are also two HUGE outlet areas - one is in Burlington and one is
just north of Seattle (it's a Premium Outlets place).

If there's anything specific, you'd like to do, let me know and I'll
find out about it for you :)
