Adelle - 08 Feb 2008 16:30 GMT Hi!
Coming up for air for a bit. Things have been insanely busy, here since right before Thanksgiving. Mostly just 'busywork' like chauffering kids or errands and meetings keeping me from spending lots of time on the NG. Have been lurking, posting quickly when there is something unique I can add. Otherwise, I send good wishes and prayers with needed without replying to posts. Its the best I can do right now.
Ian is now taking violin lessons and loving it. He's doing a lot better in school, now that he is getting some special services for reading and writing. Becka has decided to go back to flute, after not taking lessons for 7 years. She's having trouble with grades this semester - a problem since its the critical Junior year and she's taking an impressive array of honors, AP and arts classes - and just got a C in her AP class - really bad for college applications. Hoping having the emotional outlet of music will help her feel more balanced, leading to more commitment to her work.
I did teach a cooking class last month for the synagogue which took a fair amount of prep; I'm doing two more this Spring. I'm also co-leading a Sunday morning class on Hebrew reading and synagogue skills. And now that our facilitator for our monthly movie night has moved, guess who will be filling in? Oh - And I just spent the last day and a half trying to keep water in only one part of our basement.
Now to get to what the subject line indicates - Seems the RA is being stubborn for the moment. I'm moving better on the Methotrexate/Plaquenil combo, but my labwork and my hands (plus fatigue) indicate the RA is far from under control. So my RD is switching out the Plaquenil for Enbrel. According to BC/BS, that means using one of their 'specialized' mail order Pharmacies. Has anyone had good/bad experiences with any of the following: Caremark, Inc,. Curascript, OTN Services, or Specialtyscripts?

Diane - 08 Feb 2008 17:39 GMT My experience with Caremark was actually very good. Unfortunately, my BCBS plan has now switched to Medco, which is so far driving me crazy, but it might just be getting used to a new system. Good luck with the enbrel. it was terrific for me (until it faded. . . )

Hadn't even thought of fade until you mentioned it. But glad to know about Caremark. The idea of having to rely on mail order, especially as we get into summer, had me a little nervous.

Caremark always shipped my prescriptions very quickly when I ordered and you can do all your orders online. You get the price right then and there so there are no surprises :) I wish I still had them.

I had Caremark when I had United Healthcare with AT&T Wireless and they were excellent. Their prices were also VERY good for the scripts that I needed.

They're fine too, but seem to have a policy that only their own mail order pharmacy can handle my Enbrel rx. I originally placed the rx with my local SAfeway pharmacy and they yanked it away from them. I can only see a few dollars difference in the price, but whatever. They ship me my Enbrel promptly every month and it's always well-packed and chilled.

Mine comes through Medco. They are excellent and on the ball. Send me refill notices early and eager to help me out. In fact, if they think I have gone too long in ordering my Enbrel, they phone me.
Great service for me, no complaints.
Good luck,
Lyn
Donna G. - 09 Feb 2008 09:28 GMT When I had caremark several years back, they were terrific!!! Great service and never had a problem with them.
I now have medco and absolutely despise them. Terrible service, always messing my orders up, always messing the billing portion up, etc. The right hand never knows what the left hand is doing. Can't really say anything goood about them at all. In fact, rarely order anything from them any more---just not worth the hassels of it all. As far as when I was on Enbrel, it would always arrive warm from medco. Nuff said.
Wish I could go back to caremark!!!

Lyn - 09 Feb 2008 16:07 GMT Hi Donna, How funny we have totally different responses to Medco. They have been great with me and my Enbrel always very cold. I have it delivered to work as I am out in the sticks.

Considering where we live, you'd think we're dealin with the same Medco center. I have a bag full of ice packs from medco in the deep freeze and donated several foam ice chests from Enbrel shipping to a white elephant sale last Aug. My only problem was when BC/BS shifted us to OptionCare and the scripts didn't transfer as expected. A desperate call to BC finally fixed that. Oh, and our common problem of businesses not believing that there reallyare places in the lower 48 where FedEx and UPS do NOT guarantee next day delivery and/or Saturday delivery!

Well, then guess the choice is an easy one - Caremark.
Thanks!!!! Adelle
Nann Bell - 09 Feb 2008 16:24 GMT I mostly use Medco(and have had no problems with them, Diane) and got my Enbrel, when i was on it, from OptionCare in Ann Arbor, which i think is actually set up by Michigan B/S. IIRC, Caremark is who Mother gets all her meds through. She's been very happy with their service, though she isn't on anything that takes special handling. I just wich the mailorder places would get a smaller container for the pills that really take up very little room. It's a pain to have all that wasted space when packing for overseas trips!
