I bought one of those small exercise balls for the osteo in my hands.
Seems to be filled with lead or steel shot. I've only been squeezing it a
few days but it seems to help somewhat.

Anyone else tried these?

TIA

Last time I tried something like that it seemed to help a little and then I
was so stiff and sore from the exercise I quit.  It seems like most exercise
simply has to be paid for later.

Try fewer reps. I haven't opened mine yet. It came in two days before
surgery and now I'm not allowed to do any exercises; mostly because
everything we do we use the core muscles and mine are full of stitches right
now.

I have one but have been advised by my physio not to overuse it.
Usually it is for closing the fingers and they need to stretch
out as well.

Hi Ken,

I have had OA in both wrists and hands since the 70's. They ache and
get stiff but there doesn't seem to be any joint damage. I have been
using a hand exercise ball for several weeks and it does seem to help.
I use it when I go walking (my hands aren't doing anything then
anyway). Since a lot of my walking is done first thing in the morning
when it is cold, using the ball helps keep my hand warm.
