I have been taking OTC Naproxen Sodium (Naproxsyn) 220 mg. tabs for
about 2 weeks.

I take 1 tab twice a day and it "seems" to be quite effective for the
usual arthritic aches & pains.  Also, it doesn't cause me stomach
problems like an "effective" dose of ibuprofen does.

Anyone been taking Naproxen Sodium for a long period of time?

Thanks

Yes,,,, I took three 500 prescription Nap. a day for 5 years before I saw my
first RD who said I have RA on the first visit.
Naprozen Sodium is just as hard on a persons stomach as ibu is.  Please
take it with food and a full glass of water.

I've been taking 500 mg (prescription) twice a day for the last 2
years.  It started to give me tummy troubles, so you should be
careful.  Be sure to talk to your rheumatologist about the ibu no
longer working.

Good luck!

I took it for years, until I could no longer take NSAIDS.  The swelling they
caused in my feet became more painful than anything else.

I took it for 14 years, then it started rebounding (causing the symptoms it
was meant to stop). So I was switched to Arthrotec, which I took for about 8
years then it caused small intestinal bleeding ulcers. I am not currently on
an NSAID.....unless Plaquenil qualifies for that category.

I also took naprosen for two years.  Prescription strength.  But then
I had a very unusual reaction, I went to bed on a Saturday night and
woke up on Wednesday morning.  My doctor said that I was lucky to be
alive.
That was many years ago.  My son was just walking good then, he's now
20.

Take care,

Vickie B.

Was Naprosyn the cause?

Sy, Yes Naproxen was the cause!  I don't take it at all anymore!

Remember this was a very unusual reaction.
