Melinda, I am just so elated about all the cards the girls are
getting. This must mean so much to them, and I know it has
brought the real meaning of Christmas home to me and made me feel
*warm and fuzzy* that I was able to contribute.

Your last message about hardly being able to open the mailbox
made me curious. Would you let us know about how many cards the
girls received when the season is over? This has made me feel a
real kinship with the folks on this forum.

May the girls and their brothers have as good a Christmas as
possible with their Mum away. And you and yours have a good one,
too.

Joan in snowy, snowy, snowy Perth. All I can see are snow banks.
Jim said today, "Guess it looks as if we may have a white
Christmas after all." Funny guy!

Joan,
I so will let you know. It is surprising how much more exciting a card
that comes in the mail is to a kid than an email would be.  there
seems to be a legitimacy that I didn't realize before, to thois whole
mail thing.  Maybe a little Miracle on 34th Street sort of thing.

There certainly is. I often wish that people would pick up the phone
instead of emailing as there are times when I'd just love to hear a
human voice instead of typing on a screen.  Being retired is nice, but
it does get lonely at times. Thank goodness that I have Dundee to talk
to now :)

I still remember when I first started hanging out in newsgroups, Charlie
acted like I'd found some imaginary friends.  That is until the Christmas
cards that year.  Virtual is all well and good, but real is real.

My kids were the same way. Then one year they walked in and, instead of
using my card holder, I had taped them all over the living room. They were
stunned at how many cards were there...even a Hannukah card from my Jewish
boss. LOL There is just something so awesome about seeing all those cards.
Look at http://www.geocities.com/deetee48/ThanksChristmaspage2.html to see
the cards we have so far for this year. (M- on page 1 there are 3 or 4 pics
of Linda with the rest of us. She and Mike only appear to be giants next to
the rest of the family.)
