Has anyone else dealt with this issue. Seems as though it is causing me
grief and there really is no prevention.
Just want to know that I am not the only one that is suffering with this.

It is very painful but eventually goes away. Jano

You are definitely NOT the only one to suffer with this. Many of us here
have costochrondritis. I am one. It is a chronic ailment that can return. It
flares just like our joints lasting from a few hours to a few weeks. Your
doctor can help ease the pain but mostly they just let it run its course.
One thing to be aware of with this is that it can recur at any
time...without warning. It is not fun at all. I empathize with you.

No, you aren't alone!!! I was just diagnosed last week with costo and
am in the first phase of learning how to deal with it. I am optimistic
that I will be one of the few folks who only have one bout of it.

No,,, you aren't alone..... I have had a dose of this twice and quick
actions by my RD put it to sleep each time. Steroid shots in the area that
was inflamed did it for me. It was a time when it was hard to breath
without pain and now.... a deep breath does not do as much as it useta but
it is without the pain..... So it goes.

the way it plays out for me is much like DeeTee describes. Some folks
though, do have it go away, or at least calm down to a minor annoyance. If
it becomes unbearable, ask your doc about a quick steroid taper. That
usually helps calm things down.

Oh yeah you are not the only one. I have it big time too. Mine is chronic,
so have it most of the time.
Things not to do, don't do sweeping, raking, stuff like that that makes you
move like that. Also vacumning is not a good idea either.
If you are coughing, lean up against a wall when you cough or sneeze, also
you can use a pillow infront of you to hold things in place when coughing
and sneezing.
Mine is coming alot from the back and the chronic myofascial pain I have
there so heat in that area helps.
ice at times helps but not when it is so cold like it is now. ;-)
I feel for you and anyone that has this. You might want to watch what you
are lifting etc too. I find at times I can't lift much more than a piece of
paper when mine is flaring.
