ago if there's a way to block spammers when using google and there
wasn't. has that changed? i'm sick of seeing all this garbage and
wonder what it looks like to a newbie just looking for support.

I just kill file each of them. That way I only have to see them once. Then
they're gone.

Hang in there, DeeTee

It's an ancient scribal art called scrolling. You use psychology
instead of computology.

I have found the posts more tolerable having read one of them and
found it sad but funny. He is suffering a psychosis and is either a
pot-smoker or neglecting his Valium.

However much he is a nuisance here, he is a much greater heartbreak to
his family and well known unfortunate character where he lives. I
picture him as large boned and overweight despite being a heavy
smoker.

He tends to corner people who are too polite to tell him to eff off
and is frustrated with almost every social aspect of his life -
behaving as a total misfit with symptoms likely seen in shell shocked
troops.

In short a total 2@. It is possible to feel sorry for such people
after they have gone away, once you have recovered from them.
Kelly - 24 Nov 2007 20:49 GMT
I have felt the same Diane - not just you grumpy.  I have blocked some (not
using google) but of course it always seems as December and January arrive
so do the people needing money and the people with a few screws loose ( of
course in ****mann's case that is all the time.)

I too hope we don't lose anyone who needs help - newbies or otherwise.  I
know I am a little quieter when the group gets like this.

Hang in there - they too leave eventually. It isn't just you noticing it.

I haven't tried it yet, but would this not filter out the nonsense?

I think I tried that once, but it didn't 'hold', so it didn't work.
Well, that or I'm even dumber than I thought I was.

Hey Diane,

If you are referring to the MI5 guy, several months ago, on a
different group I think, someone made mention that the gentleman in
question is usually on meds.  He doesn't post at all while medicated.
When he goes off, he slams nearly every group.

The one good thing is that his stuff is usually in 'tight' formation,
so it's easier to overlook.  It is irritating, but if the medication
story is true (and I choose to believe), then it's easier to ignore.
In fact, I've found myself feeling badly for him, annoyed yes, but
sympathetic to whatever ails him.

Smokie Darling (Annie) - but then again, there are days when I get
crankier than normal, and he drives me *right* up the wall <shrug>.
Paul T. Holland - 27 Nov 2007 22:44 GMT
run across him for many years now - so i remember a bit of what he's
written about his factual circumstances

he is  - self admittedly - a borderline schiz.

however he also believes the docs are in on it...

Not to debase his feelings or anything, but honey, *I've* had days
where I just knew the doctors were in on it and trying to keep me
sick.

I know they aren't, but somedays, when they yank this med because the
white counts are too low, or they yank that med because my kidney
panels were off a smidge (and yes, it was just a smidge), then can't
figure out why the stuff doesn't work the second time around....

Well, yeah, I start thinking they might 'out to get me'.

Smokie Darling (Annie) - just because I'm paranoid, doesn't mean they
aren't out to get me

Ahhh, so that's what it's all about.  How fun.  Guess that means I
can't expect it to end anytime soon, huh?

Diane,

If you find out then I want to know how to do it.  I don't come to the
newsgroup as much because of this.  It's just to frustrating.

I hear where you're coming from Diane!  We were shifting computers
when this latest twerp showed up and I was reading on Google.  It did
motivate me to get the newsgroups set up on the new, used computer
before anything else.  I thought it was to killfile him, but
discovered earthlink filters the guy out so I don't even see him.  Is
there any possibility of getting to us through your ISP, or on you on
AOL who claims newsgroups are defunct?

Nann, en route to Chicago to see "Die Frau ohne Schadden" (sp?)
tonight - amazing the lengths one will go to for the performing arts
when very little is available locally!

As far as AOL is concerned the newsgroups are defunct, since they
don't carry them.  My ISP, a subsidiary of Comcast, also does not
carry newsgroups <shrug>.  It's just a thing.

Smokie Darling (Annie) - an annoying thing, but a 'thing' nonetheless

yup, i'm still on aol, fool that i am. i will just try to ignore the
current mess on asa, but it makes it hard to separate the wheat from
the chaff.

enjoy "die Frau ohne Schaden." thinking back to high school german,
that sounds like "the woman without shame." am i even close?

It's a shame AOL gave up on newsgroups so early and a shame that this
poor poster is sharing his delusions with us.

I had the spelling wrong - couldn't remember if it was dd or tt.  "Die
Frau ohne Schatten"  The woman without a shadow, based on an old
belief that if you didn't cast a shadow, you couldn't bear children.
All much more involved than that though, being a Richard Strauss
opera, and he was friends with Sigmund Freud and brought in a lot of
his thinking.  Love the music, didn't agree with all the staging, even
came close to laughing at some that seemed too silly.  But I'm a motel
computer.  Will talk more after we get home tomorrow.
