Well, just got a note in the mail from the new specialist I was sent to
for this CVID. She drew some additional bloodwork the last time I was
there to see her, and my tryptase level came back quite elevated.  She
now wants me to go see another allergist who specializes in tryptase
abnormalities.   Wow, she is an allergist/immunologist herself, but
still wants me to see this other doctor.

Can we say tired of adding new doctors???  LOL---sheesh, no more
doctors!!!

Just wondering if any of you are familiar with tryptase levels or have
had any problems with this particular level, and if so, what was the
resolution to the problem?

Sigh, never a dull moment here in nut house land!!!  LOLOLOL!!!

Okay Donna - enough.  I can't even understand the articles I dug up on this
new one of yours.  no wonder the allergist/immonologist wanted another
opinion - they didn't understand either.

Add that new doctor - might need it to understnad any of this.

Yeah, Kelly, that is why I posted the question here.   I couldn't
understand the stuff I read either.   This test isn't even listed on the
labtestsonline site.    I called the doctor today and asked her if I
could just hold off on this a bit and she said no, she really would like
me to keep the appointment they made for me the first week of nov.
Apparently this other guy she is sending me too deal almost exclusively
with this tryptase abnormality type stuff.   Uggggh.   I'm sure with
you, enough already!!!

Good - was thinking I was medically illiterate (not unusual but since RA and
this neuropathic stuff I am getting better at this.)

Keep that appointment!  You need to let us know what the mystery is.  I for
one will be on tenderhooks waiting to find out.  And who knows maybe Diane
might need all this stuff for a CSI type medical book!

No problems of that sort - not yet, anyway! <chuckle>  What I can understand
of the reading I did about it online tells me that it's part of the immune
sytstem's reaction to various things, particularly to allergans, and is
considered a major factor in asthma and in our ol' bugaboo, inflammation.
But it souunds like it can be the result of differing things such as immune
system stimulation or a disorder of the mast cells.  Perhaps the reason for
adding another doctor is to identify precisely what is causing your tryptase
to kick up.  It sounds like that can be a complex thing to work out.

I know how frustrating it is to keep adding more doctors.  Look at it as
though you are a dectective trying to work out the mystery of your body's
dysfunction.  The new immunologist is just another witness you have to
interview.  Hopefully, they're forwarding info on so you don't have to tell
too much of the same old story again.  That's the part that really gets to
me.

(and at least your specialists aren't a minimum of 75 miles away!)
