I have more details on the fall Mom took several days ago. She had been
told to ring for the nurse or aide when she needed to go to the bathroom.
She was not to walk unassisted. It seems Mom had other ideas and decided
she would walk by herself. That's when she fell.
Then today I received a cover letter and a form to sign to allow them to
keep the security belt around her during the day. It is one that she can't
just wiggle out of, and there is a sensor device that alerts staff if she
tries to get out of the wheelchair on her own. They don't practice
restraint methods, except in cases where it is needed for a patient's own
safety. Mother qualifies for that, but they needed my signature and
permission to continue using the seatbelt. When I was there on Monday, Mom
had it on but she never said a word about it and it didn't seem to be
binding to the point where she would be uncomfortable. The cover letter
said that Mom doesn't yet realize that she needs assistance yet, nor that
she is weaker than she wants to admit. Gloria

Nanny, read that this was a mistake, but hoping things go well with your
mom. I didn't know she was this bad off. You take care of you. I know this
has to be hard on you dealing with all this too.
