I finally gave in and called the RD's office. The pain and stiffness were
pretty rough. He authorized me to go back on my methotrexate now that the
chemotherapy is over. I just hope it kicks in quickly. I see him in person
in a few weeks and plan to get him on my side on this disability thing.
Allsup seemed to think his word would be the deciding factor for the
Administrative Law Judge who will preside over the hearing (although they
usually get the judge to approve without a hearing). We'll see if the doc
will agree with me that I cannot work at all. It has to be his opinion and
it has to be entered into my medical records.
Think about me on the 16th of October.

i must have misread a previous post. i thought you had already started mtx.
i'm wanting it to kick in quickly for you, too, sweetie.
((((((((((((((deetee))))))))))))))))
i'm glad you decided to get an attorney to fight for your ssdi for you. i
think your lawyer is correct. you'll need to make it clear to this doctor,
and other doctors, that there is *no way* you can you could financially
support yourself.
suggestion, just ideas for you--make a list of all the *specific* things you
cannot do and those things that are too painful to do with any degree of
sustained tolerance, how they affect your everyday quality of life. as you
do this, also, sit down with your hubby and ask him what he sees in this
regard, because you might not notice/be aware of the things he notices that
can be added to the list. (we often take our own limitations for granted,
accept them stoically, and don't realize how limited we really are. but our
spouses often do notice, even though we "think" they don't.) with this
same list, also show how you cannot and *will not be able to* string enough
"good days" together to be able to hold *any* full-time job in order to
support yourself financially. then, discuss this list with your attorney
and your doctor/s.
good luck, sweetie.

There was one thing I told the doctors evaluating me that I think helped.
They were asking about household stuff. Cooking and housekeeping in
general. I told him we depended a lot on take out and meals you can heat in
the microwave. Not so much because I can't cook anymore but because cleanup
afterwards is just too much work.
They need to know stuff like how hard it is just to go buy a few groceries.
Not just the shopping itself but getting the stuff into the car and home and
inside and put away.
Used to be I'd make a nice meal on grocery day. Now I'm too worn out to eat
a meal, much less cook it.

Jo and Kate are right on the money here...I know that when you start listing
things, your brain will say..yeah I can do that..or on my good days I can do
this...Remember how many "Spoons" you had to use to be able to accomplish
it.
It is very easy to think back and say Yeah I bought all the grocerys and put
them all away...I can do that..Without remembering that it took 3 days to
recover afterwards...
Allsup is very good at asking the questions and when you answer with a short
sentance..Pulling more answers from you that you haven't even thought
about...Or elaborating on your Yes and No answers....
Good Luck Dee Tee....
And Praying that your Medicine kicks in quickly..

Sweetie - I went BACK on the methotrexate. The RD stopped it while I was on
chemo for the cancer.

Hi DeeTee,,,, Did you start back at the old amount/wk or do you build up to
it?

He put me right back on the same amount. The chemotherapy did the same job
the methotrexate was doing, so it wasn't as though I had been
"chemical-less" (is that a word?) during the summer. I inject ...hmmm...I
forget now, but it's to the 8 on the needle. It is doing it's job, albeit a
little slowly. I still have a finger joint that's swollen and very painful,
but the rest of me seems to be calming back down somewhat.
