So I'm hanging out at home, too sick with a kidney infection to even
walk down the stairs and what do you do? You post a link to
bookworm. I thought bubbles was bad! I became an instant addict. I
tried all the one hour free trials and then I tried the free yahoo wen
version. I became manipulative (if you clean your cookies and delete
your downloads, you can keep going with the free trial thing forever
or almost). Now it is weeks later and I just spent the 19.95 to buy
the darned thing and I have never done that before for any game.
That is not the problem-the problem is that I can hang out playing
bookworm for an eternity but it gets worse...bookworm is not
scrabble. They don't count many many words that are indeed words. So
now I am trying to get them to update bookworm using a scrabble
dictionary. This has become my campaign; this has become my passion;
this has become my life! I thought we were friends, Joe <g>

If you think that is bad, try wordslinger. Available at most of the
game places, including yahoo games. It is a combination between
scrabble and crossword. I never paid, but played the free hour but
since then they have allowed me five free minutes. The free minutes
have continued for a long while, so anytime i need a quick game break,
I play. Sometimes I play a few five minute sessions.

LOL! I am certainly NOT introducing my husband to this game, then! I have
enough trouble sometimes getting him to quit playing Scrabble online long
enough for me to check email. Then again, he might give it up if they don't
use the Scrabble dictionary which, of course, includes many "words" that are
not common English usage. Some aren't common usage much of anywhere. (does
anyone actually know anyone who commonly calls pizza "za"? That was a recent
addition to the Scrabble dictionary.)

Well that one was a new one to me, Nann, and I actually read the
scrabble dictionary! I am pleased that since I don't like pizza, I
will never have to order a za.

Ah, well, you need a member of the NSA (National Scrabble Association) in
your house! Mike got the updates in the newsletter somewhere along the way.
You can currently find them at http://www2.scrabble-assoc.com/ - go to "Play
Scrabble" and click on "OSPD4 Changes". He feels he must keep me constantly
informed of such things whether I give a hoot or not. LOL (I like Scrabble,
but not the competitive style which isn't really about words. I feel more
kindly towards it now though after watching an ESPN segment on the National
School Scrabble Championship this afternoon - they pointed out that
competitive Scrabble is more a game of mathematics than a game of words.
Looking at it that way, I could get seriously hooked!)
Meanwhile, I like pizza, but vastly prefer the European concept of such. Had
a great ham and asparagus pizza with a bit of cheese and olive oil in
Germany. In my mind that beats out most of these pizza monstrosities (sp?)
you see advertised on TV here.

Ya know I managed to avoid this monster before. I mostly try to stay away
from new games. But you made me look. And I haven't got anything else done
all day.
Bubbles is more relaxing, but this one makes me feel clever. Even if I'm
just making up three letter words that turn out to be real after all.
And Charlie wonders why I never get anything done around here. (He isn't
getting anything done either, but he does manage to sit around and wonder
why I don't)

Could someone email bubbles link. I tried to find it and couldn't
several weeks ago. For heaven sakes don't post it here -- I would
likely be stoned by someone unfamiliar with it. lol
