Hi!

Just letting you all know my mom passed last night.

My sisters and I had been staying at the nursing home in shifts, so
she was never alone. She had just been holding pretty stable in this
borderline place where she could go any time. It had been almost four
days since she'd been able to eat or drink even the smallest amounts.

Sunday, my first day here, she looked pretty bad and we weren't sure
she was going to make it to Tuesday when the Rabbi was scheduled to
come, much less Thursday when my kids would be coming. But she
continued to hang on, heavily medicated, until last night.

Because it is the Jewish Sabbath, the funeral home probably won't have
an answer from the Rabbi until after sundown about whether we can
adhere to Jewish custom and have the funeral as soon as possible. We
are hoping for tomorrow. Then we'll fly back to MA to observe the
mourning period there.

Everyone here is coping as well as can be expected.
