heehee - hey, this is the town that, distressed by its falling population in
several censuses, decided to include the 4000 inmates of the state prison in
the 1980 count. Instantly had fast food places and other businesses coming
in! Many have lasted, though not as profitably as hoped, until now, when
Chester is becoming a bedroom community for St. Louis, thanks to improved
roads. But I guess I should get to packing before my chaffeur gets too
antsy!

Nann, the little town I grew up near (4 miles) and the school I attended was
"CHESTER". A surprise to hear that name from somewhere else!

Heh, Chester Illinois was named after Chester England. We stayed there a
couple of nights back in '90 - it's one of those towns with many
half-timbered houses and much of the old town wall still standing. Any idea
if that's where your Chester got its name?

I have no idea, Nann. Broke my heart when they closed it and sent all the
students to Dodge County High School (all grades).
