LOLOLOL,,, See,,, I told you I would get it wrong. Actually it is DMARD and
that is,,,, Hhhhm,,,, Disease Modifying Arthritis Rheumatic Drug,,, I
think,,,, LOLOL
It started out with Steroids and then they found out that Gold shots and
pills helped many people,,, then it was Gold and steroids,,, then it was
Methx with steroids,,, several came along then that were really for other
problems like Arava Plaquinel, Sulfasalizine, and others. Then came
Anti-tnf such as Enbrel, Remicade and a few more in that family. You will
read in this newsgroup about people using them because they had a problem
with Enbrel or Remicade. Each one is a little different or is taken
differently. All the latest medicines are very expensive and most people
are either rich or have very good insurance to be able to take any of them.
I take Arava now because I took it for a year after Methx stopped working
for me for the second or third time and it was a good year. At the end of
that year I cut back on the amount I was taking (on my own and nearly lost
my doctor because I did that) because I had a acid reflux problem which the
Arava made worse. It did not come back to working for me when I started
taking the full amount again. It was on to Enbrel which has worked well
for me for many years even when it has had to be stopped several times for
this reason or that reason. It always comes back strong for me when
restarted. The lesson in all this,,, Make sure your doctor knows that you
are taking the medicine he/she has precribed. When things change in your
body, the doc has to find out what to do about it and if you have been
playing with the amount your taking,,,,, it is impossible for them to do.
Wellll, thats enough out of me and others have their own story to tell
because we all react to the different medicines differently and why the RDs
make the big bucks.

Hi Rose,
Thank you so much for all the good info. Lots of meds to study on that web
site, so I won't be so dumb if my Rheumy puts me on one of them.
So glad you wrote..thanks again.....Nel

Here is one of the best sites to study drugs, what they're intended for, and
their side effects.

Thank Harvey,
I'm not what you would call rich, but I do have very good insurance. I see
RoseB's note below, so you almost got it right;-))..I was looking for DMRD
on google and it wasn't to clear if that was what I wanted or not...thanks
for your message.
If I have RA, Wouldn't you think I would be aching in the mornings?, I
don't ever have pain when I'm not walking, even then it's mostly just weak
in the legs and I guess you would say the lower legs hurt a bit, hard to
describe.
I thought RA was a disease that you could have pain just sitting around. I
never had that.
Thanks for your reply...Nel

nel, only a rheumy can tell you for sure, but when i was first
diagnosed, i only had pain in my left ankle when walking. that's why i
didn't believe it could be anything that serious. months later, my
wrist started to swell. then my index finger. and the rest is
history.

Hi Nel,,, I do not know that you have RA or a form of RA. That is for
your RD to decide. Tell your RD that you want to know what you have and
that you want to fight it aggressively and we will fight it together.

Hi Harvey,
I wish I did know what I have..I think my Rheum. is trying to get me off
the pred, so he can do the muscle biopsy that will tell him more...
Would you believe though I'm losing my Rheumotologist. He told me a couple
months ago. He is going to stop practice and go to UCLA to teach..I guess
that's what he wants to do, now is the time to do it while he's young. HE is
to call me today, I guess to tell me how my blood came out last week. I'll
sure miss him, but he said he was putting me with another Rheum, in the
group,(there are 4) that will be doing the same treatment. There's not as
much about him in google as there was about my Dr Bulpitt.(don't laugh, the
name)I was always afraid I would say it backwards..
Thanks for writing....Nel
