Hello fellow gimpsters and gimpettes,
It's been 12 days now since I've been able to play golf!! The courses are
still flooded in this area though the
water is slowly going down. Mid-season form is a thing of the past and I'll
be starting over getting my back
loose again. Leagues cancelled. Only have another month or two of playing
weather before cold becomes
an issue. What a mess!
On the brighter side, my house has never been cleaner. Rather play than
clean though. Been getting a lot
done at work. I guess because I'm actually there more often! :-)
Football season is started and will be working more weekends now 'till Dec.
doing games. Convocation Center
(can you say basketball arena) has decided to have engineering at all events
now. More extra work than I care to
have. Been thinking a lot about retiring. Will be maxed out on pension
benefits a year from Christmas and can
earn no further benefits.
Still read everyday and silently pray for all the people who are having
difficulties.
Arthurs been pretty kind to me lately unless I do something stupid like move
wrong.....
Mike has his license now and is driving my pick-up. Bought a $2000 runner
from a mechanic friend
who has it running like a top. '97 Cutlass Supreme. Things got bells and
whistles I haven't discovered yet.
Love that car.
I'd like to propose we petition Congress to establish "Arthritis Recess
Week" where we all get to have total
remission. And then arthritis month, and then arthritis year, decade,
century, millennium, eon,....
Love you guys one and all.

Love the recess week idea. The rest of the world would never know what hit
them.
It would be great to be a travel agent in your area right now. Bet golf
weekends are really popular.
Golf out here is great if you don't mind rattlesnakes and 100+ temps.
They tend to play "very" early in the mornings.

Just put on that raingear and use this kind of device . . .

My DH has not been able to golf in ages due to his RA, but, who knows,
he is starting Remicade soon. Perhaps that will make a difference.

Awe Gary, no golf. mmm well look at it this way, you can shine them clubs till next time and I
won't say nothing about the b....! no comment, see I can be nice.
You have the same flooding as we have in NW ohio then. My home town is aweful and thankfully
we live in the country right now. That was bad enough.
Retire you say? Heck yes retire. If you can't make more money then do it. MY advise it there
has got to be more to life than working after you are an OLD man right?
dang son is driving already. Hope that keeps working well and he is responsible, but I am sure
his daddy had a set down with him about that didn't ya Gary!!
Good to hear from you. And glad you were spared from the flooding as well as we were here at
home.
Take care and again, shine them clubs and ...what ever you do with them things
:)

Gary, We went through that early this year...I mean about the golf...And
now, our home golf course...that we call the Cow Pasture..Because after the
99 tornado ripped through Moore, it leveled it and almost every tree
there...And then DROUGHT for over 2 years..And almost all the ponds were dry
last year...They did dig them out deeper while they had the chance..But if
we had known we were going to get this much rain this year, they could have
been made alot deeper...and even the grass has had a hard time
returning...we finally have grass this year...But...there is always a
but...The greens are horrible. ..Between Fungus and weeds...Well today while
putting, I thought I was hitting out of the rough...LOL...
Still it is cheap..well FREE since Mike or I open on Thursday mornings in
exchange for all the golf we want to play...So works out well...

Ah, you have my sympathies Gary. My addiction, college football, is just
starting up again. I remember how traumatic it was to be without cable TV
for four, count them 4!, college football seasons. Ah, well, I'll trade you
some sunshine for some rain and we can get both areas back on track
weather-wise.
Your son is driving..... my, he did grow up fast! Enjoy your new-to-you
treat of a car. And yes, I'll be happy to sign that petition to congress!

Ahhhh, Gary, so good to see you popping in!
Sorry to hear about the golf season being cut so short. Hopefully
things will dry out a bit on your end soon! This has been such crazy
weather this summer.
Can't believe Mike is driving!!! Wow, where does the time go? Glad
you have a second vehicle to tool around and that serves you well.
PLease be careful not to overdo this sport season. And, I agree with
Janers, when you can retire, go for it!!! You deserve the break and
there are always so many other ways to fill the time.
Hugs to you and bring on the college football season. I am sooooo
ready!!!
Go Blue!!! lololol

good to hear from you, gary. w0w! has time sped by that quickly that mike
is driving already?! retirement sounds like a great idea! you'll no doubt
enjoy it immensely, aside from a clean house.<smile>
as for your golfing addiction withdrawls--you are not as bad off as the
connecticut golfers i used to watch when i was in the 8th grade in hartford
near trinity college. picture this: 1962; 20 degree, or less, weather;
grown men dressed like nanook of the north (looking like they are wearing 8
layers of clothing, like most of us kids who went to school, so that any
normal movement is reminiscent of color-clad pillsbury doughboys); thick
gloves on their hands, with finger tips exposed; breath vapors and heat
vapors rising from their faces, fogging the air of a bright clear day; them
awkwardly swinging golf clubs and trying to find where their drive landed in
6 inches of snow, all the while stomping their feet and slapping themselves,
as if they could feel anything through all that clothing, to stay warm.
serious golfing addicts, those connecticut golfers, for sure. and me, at
that age, i loved watching how funny it all was.<g>
enjoy football season, guy!<smile>
