Hi! I am new here. I didn't have arthritis or oesteoporis at all in
2005. Nothing hurt. I had a very bad thing happen in my left and
then I got hurt working an got 2 bulging disc. in my back. From there
everything feel apart and hurts. Of course W.C. paid for a FP doctor
and x-rays and even an MRI but not a specialist. They paid for lots
of pills too. Now it is so much worse in the area that I got hurt.
Is it possible for the injury to actually make arthritis and./or make
it worse?
I just started taking Boniva - the once a month pill and am taking
Oscal twice a day plus a multi vitamin. Any advice? I'm 51 and I
feel like I could be 90.

Ask any athlete - especially a footbal player. <G>
Actually the answer is "yes."

We could use a bit more information, such as the answer to left "what?"
See, "happen in my left."
What type of work you were doing. Was this a lifting injury? Or a crushing
injury?
Have you seen a rheumatologist (a specialist is diagnosing and treating the
more than 100 types of arthritis)?
I doubt if WC sent you to one.

Yes an injury can lead to at least one type of arthritis. Charlie fell off
a ladder and crushed his right heel almost three years ago. The heel isn't
doing too badly considering. His left knee however is a mess. The
combination of the sore heel and the trashed knee aren't doing his back a
whole lot of good either.

welcome to asa, "not yet"!
yes, sadly. absolutely, injuries can cause arthritis and make it worse. i
wish your w.c. paid for a rheumatologist, who would be able to help you a
lot more.
what "very bad thing happened" in your "left" what?

Oops! Typo! I meant life, not left. My child died. I went to bed
for 5 months, got up and got a job. The job was lifting heavy things
and literally never sitting down over a 10 hour shift. I hurt my
lower back and right hip. My doctor put me on Mobic too. It doesn't
seem to help much. She said I had arthritis now along with the
budging discs. What kind of a specialist should I see?

not yet,
i'm so sorry for the loss of your child. and to have that followed by
illness just isn't fair. you should see a rheumatologist who can
figure out what is going on. he or she can tell you if this is
arthritis caused by the job or if it was another type of arthritis
just waiting for an opportunity to appear. i wish you the best. please
stay and keep us updated on how you do.

You didn't mention the age of you child.
I lost a 32-year-old son in 1999. This was one year after an 8-year
relationship ended because she (a widow) grew homesick for her family at the
other end of the state.

My son was 27 years old when he died. I am so sorry you too, have had
the"unthinkable" happen. Doesn't ever get easier does it?

I did have support of 3 other sons, I'm thankful for.
I did feel sorry for his mother (my ex- since 1973) who lost her mother in
September 1988, her brother in December, and then our son the following May.
That was 3 losses for her in such a short span.
