General notes, not specifically Canadian
* There has been mention that glucosamine sulfate is better than
glucosamine hydrochloride, but the available info is not conclusive
* In combo with chondroitin better than alone
* 1500mg glucosamine, 1200mg chondroitin daily

2006 Consumer Reports recommendations include the following brands,
among others, not available in Canada:
* Puritan's Pride Maximum Strength Glucosamine Chondroitin
* Spring Valley Glucosamine Chondroitin Double Strength
* Spring Valley Glucosamine Complex

The pharmicist at Walmart confirmed that if I was trying to minimize
risk from quality control issues, I should consider only big brand
names with indisputable reputations.  Hence I disregarded no-name
brands, though they might be perfectly fine.

Canadian brands surveyed at Walmart: Holista Webber Jamieson Swiss

Webber
------

600mg chondroitin sulfate (sodium, bovine cartilage)
2pills/day x $32.66/150pills ~ $0.44/day

400mg chondroitin sulfate
3pills/day x $16.86/140pills ~ $0.36/day

Value Pack 500mg GA sulfate

3pills/day x $25.38/150pills ~ $0.51/day

Holista

Oops.  GA is my shorthand for glucosamine.  I corrected some typos where I used
GC instead.

Your body makes glucosamine from glucose and glutamine.

I.e. you're wasting your money.

... probably didn't graduate anywhere near the top of the class.

Kaz, you're all wet.  I take
glucosamine/chondroiton, and it definitely does help me.  I buy Osteo
Bi-Flex at Walmart and am very pleased with it.

How about YOU?  You're not exactly the beacon of wit and intelligence.
Are you?

And I notice your posting times for today are in the evening.  What,
another night off?  You're going to loose your benefits if you work less
than 40 hours per week for TOO many weeks.

If I was taking pictures of my a.s and posting them on the internet, you
could claim that.  But, unfortunately for you, YOU are the one bending
over and webcamming yourself.  And not to mention your creeping up with
a camera on people sunbathing.  Christ, you goddamned freak.  Get a
f.cking job, quick, before you get arrested.
