Ah the old plantar fascitis. I have it and had to have surgery on my foot, along
with tendonitis of the ankle.
First time I step down it screams with pain, this is before surgery.
I had injections into the heel area, went to PT and had ultra sound done and
exercises. If you lay or set in a chair take a towel and put it under the ball of
your foot. NOW pull on that town and make your toes come forward towards your face.
Do this for the count of twenty, let go relax and do again for 2 more times. Another
exercise is stand in front of a step. NOW step up with the bad foot just inside the
step and right under your toes. Now raise your self up with that foot, like you are
trying to stand on your toes and HOLD it for 20 counts and relax, again repeat this 2
more times. Do these plus some more a little more complicated for me to type let
alone any one to know what I mean :)
that will help your stretching of that ligament that hurts when you walk. Inserts
also help but I had mine put in by a foot doc, maybe that is something you need to
consider here SEE a podiatrist? if you can??
Warm water is good. I never soak my feet but found that doing so in a hot soapy bath
with vibration helped with the pain too. I did try ice but could not stand it.
Total I had 3 injections and 3 rounds of PT. nothing helped.
I have lupus and the inflammation just would NOT go down, so he went in scaped then
tendon in the ankle and cut the plantar ligament. MOST people DO not have to have
surgery but as MY life is complicated, I Had to have the surgery.
I still get stiff walking but it has been a year and it is better but not the best.
Stretch stretch stretch is all I can say. As far as prediabetic, I am not. But do
know proper toe nail cutting and keeping your feet clean and dry is the best thing.
Plus watch for signs of poor circulation like blueish color or over pink areas, these
might need attention. Clean and dry socks are a must. SOCKS are a good thing ....if
dry. Myself I can't hardly wear sandels at all. My feet are much worse with pain
when doing so.
did it help YOU
janers
Thanks Janers, I will try those stretches and suggestions.
I did soak my feet today in warm water, I needed to get rid of some dry skin
on the heels. Boy that helped take down the pain, but after I got my feet
out of the water, I noticed they were swollen now, so not sure what that was
about that the warm water would make them swell. I haven't had a problem
with them swelling.
I am going to print this out and keep it so I can remember all that you said
to do. I do so appreciate the tips and help.
I have been doing a no no so I am at fault for my pain. I have not had shoes
on in months except when I have to go outside which is not much. Outside
meaning back yard, or drs. Going out to get the mail or paper, i don't wear
shoes. It has been too hot to have anything on my feet. So I am paying for
it.

I just went to the podiatrist for pain in my heels. I have mild
plantar faciitis. In addition to the stretching that Janers gave you,
he told me to get a small ball, sit in a chair and roll the ball
around under my foot. Also freeze water in a bottle, like a water
bottle, sit in the chair and roll the cold bottle under your foot. I'm
very lucky that I have a really mild case. My DH had a very painful
case some years ago.
Wishing very quick healing for you.

Thank you Betty,
Those are good suggestions too I will try them.
I had this years ago when the boys were young and I was working at their
school. But they called it something else then. Now it is back again and
flaring and I am not sure outside of putting my feet in cold water what I
did to make it start again.
I hope you have a quick healing too.

On diabetic feet, change your socks often. (I've read as many as 6
times a day.) Wear white cotton socks. Check your feet daily or very
often for broken or scraped skin. Every disturbance of the skin needs
to be washed in soap and water, applied antibiotic cream, and a
bandaid.
There are special diabetic socks but I've used plain white ones for 10
years now. The most important thing is that the socks do not bind
your feet anywhere including your toes and calf. Watch out for the
seam.
There are special diabetic shoes but this is by prescription only.
But choose shoes that are basic tie shoes with a thick or stiff sole.
Diabetic shoes have larger shanks that regular shoes. Make sure
nothing in the shoe is rubbing your feet.
