Got a message from Walt Hanks this morning:

"Please let the ASA gang know that I am doing OK.  I was diagnosed with Type
2 diabetes last month.  I had to have Amanda take me to the ER three Sundays
ago because I was having chest pain, blurred vision, and nausea.  Wendy was
in Florida at a conference.  It turned out that my blood sugar was over 500.
But we have it under control now.  I am not on insulin - just oral meds and
diet.  I've lost 21 pounds already and am going to lose more.  My energy
level is way up now that my body can actually use the energy I am feeding
it.

Amanda finally has her skin biopsy tomorrow, so I hope it will tell us
something.  She is still in a lot of pain, but she is also still not letting
it stop her.  She has band camp this week and school starts in 3 weeks.
Yikes!  What happened to summer?

Micah is doing well on his mission.  He has been in Klamath Falls for almost
6 months now, so I imagine he will be transferred soon.  He is already a
senior companion and has had several baptisms.  He really loves the work.

Wendy is fine and doing well.  So that's the report from our end."

Almost afraid to ask how old are both of those 'children'. I still see
them at the same age I met them so many years ago. If Micah is on his
mission, he no longer fits into the child category. lol  Amada was my
bandage buddie. Tell Walt and all hello for me.
Really glad Walt found out about his diabetes. If he is like the rest
of us -- seeing so many specialist but never really seeing your
internist who might have caught this earlier. Wake up call to us all.

it's great to hear how well he and amanda are doing. glad walt caught
the dbx before it could do him any more harm.

Thanks for letting us know DeeTee. It is good to hear how he and the family
are doing. They are still very much in my prayers and thoughts.
