Donna G. - 26 Jul 2007 23:26 GMT Wow, what a difference a day makes!!!
It really cooled down quite a bit here overnight. High today has just managed to climb to 74 and quite breezy. Sooo, got into a cooking mood this afternoon.
Now have 2 crockpots going. One with chicken, a bit of italian dressing, splash of white wine, some mushrooms, onions, cilantro, broccoli, splash of lemon juice, a few capers, and various seasonings too.
Second crockpot with country style ribs, some onion, garlic, mushrooms, couple splashes of red wine, some beef/mushroom soup, a bit of worcestershire sauce, a splash of A1 steak sauce, and of course a variety of seasonings.
Then have dutch oven with more chicken, mushrooms, white wine, onions, chicken broth, evaporated milk, and 3 types of cheeses to make a nice rich cheese sauce.
Finished off with a big batch of tuna macaroni salad.
Whew, taking a bit of a break before tackling the kitchen, as I have made one major mess in there. Gotta get to cleaning it all up now.
Will let the stuff all cook for several hours and then more than likely freeze some and save some for meals over the next few days.
As you can probably tell, sometimes I use the open the cupboards and fridge and just dump method of cooking! lol
Anyone hungary??? . .

jofirey - 27 Jul 2007 00:35 GMT Wow, what a difference a day makes!!!
Anyone hungary??? . . I am now. And that's saying a lot. I've had an upset stomach for a couple of weeks. Trying to make myself call the doctor. But I don't wanna. Afraid it will be a big deal again and just cannot face that.
I know it probably isn't, and I know I'm being foolish but just can't seem to get past it.
In the meantime. Dinner at Donna's guys! I'll bring fresh peaches for desert.
Jo
Donna G. - 27 Jul 2007 01:14 GMT Oh, Jo, please go get it checked out to make sure it is nothing! Would really hate for you to let it go for so long that you get yourself into a bigger situation!!!
I know we all get tired of the doctors, but sometimes we just gotta give in!
Praying you feel better soon!!!!
Hugs,

sweetpickleNO@SPAMknology.net - 27 Jul 2007 00:58 GMT After reading all that, I'm starving. I'm taking 4 mg of prednisone a day and I stay hungry. Previously I had lost my appetite and lost 28 pounds. I think I may gain it all back too quickly. Sounds like you are a very good cook! Gwen

RoseB - 27 Jul 2007 02:20 GMT I am hungry and would love to come for dinner. The menu appeals to me so I will be there in a flash. I will bring some fresh fruit from the Okanagan and an assortment of fine wines from there as well (for those who are able to imbibe.). I might collect Kelly on the way and bring a few fresh Pacific salmon. Rose @}>->-- Being educated means that rather than fearing the unknown, one seeks to understand it. RB

sweetpickleNO@SPAMknology.net - 27 Jul 2007 13:55 GMT Rose, can you just come on to old Alabama with those pacific salmon! I didn't eat salmon for years thinking I wouldn't like it---but oh boy, do I like it now. Gwen

RoseB - 29 Jul 2007 06:42 GMT >It would be Rose! How was your trip - are you recovered yet? > >Kelly I finally unpacked today! I feel much better now that I am home. Next year I must take some pred with me when I go. I really seem to flare when I go to the residency.
I don't know if it is as a result of long hours and little sleep or a change in climate, or some combination but I really struggled with the RA both last year and this. I kept thinking I should take some pred but forgot to pack it. I have only 50 mg tablets and that is pretty wiring, and it is a nuisance to cut them so I avoided even thinking about it I think. Maybe with pred on board I would have done better.
My fingers are a little sore today but they are no longer swollen. My feet are the same. It is amazing.
I don't feel I did as well as I could have because of battling the RA. I also didn't do all the things I had hoped to do. I took the metro to the Smithsonian, and went to the Holocaust museum but it was too much standing for me so I had to leave before the show was finished. Then I had no energy to walk to the art museum, so just went back to my hotel and went to sleep. I was one step closer this year anyway. Last year I did not get off the tour bus.
I did get to the Arlington cemetary. It was only three stops on the metro from my hotel. I hopped on one of the sightseeing buses there and was able to see what I hoped to see.
I was disappointed though that I did not have energy to do the Smithsonian. Maybe next year. Rose @}>->-- Being educated means that rather than fearing the unknown, one seeks to understand it. RB

And I would have an opportunity to see my new granddaughter (on the gulf side).
... Where would you like Bill Gates to go today?
Kelly - 29 Jul 2007 05:13 GMT The food sounded so good. We had salt spring (a local island) lamb for dinner tonight with corn on the cob and new potatoes with mint. So good (especially since someone else cooked it!). The salmon sounds good though. Nothing better than fresh salmon on the barbecue - guess that must be for dinner next weekend.
