This was his second replacement and the day before, on his last show, he was
really apprehensive about it this time around.

Pete Wilson, from Sacramento and the Bay Area as well as talk radio.  KGO 7
News is what I remember most.

I'm sorry to hear that, I've always been a great fan of his work.

He died of a heart attack from a blocked artery during the surgery.

Very sad, but not necessary to know , we are or will face that type of
surgery, my second in September, the anxiety was there for the first one,
and I know that I will feel the same the second time, now if I read it
myself in the paper its different, but to post it here, tasteless.

Particularly to post only the death but not that it was his heart and not
really the hip replacement.  The way I heard the news report his heart could
have given out any time.

I never stated the hip replacement itself killed him and of course he could
have died because of the condition of his heart.  But didn't questions such
as :

- why didn't they identify the problem before the operation?
- what could have been done to identify the problem?

even remotely occur to you?
Ladybug75 - 26 Jul 2007 16:47 GMT
Yes, absolutely right and I did apologize for my comment, identify the
problem was a must, but before the surgery they give you an EKG, which can
be normal, even if you have a blockage, this happens to my husband who had
symptoms and was given a stress test, but his EKG was normal..

Wilson's EKG was normal as well and didn't  have any symptoms.  Before  I
have my other hip done rest assured I will discuss this condition with the
surgeon.

But that is the whole problem.  The procedures necessary to catch something
like what caused Pete Wilson's death are in themselves somewhat invasive and
can also lead to complications.  Even potentially to death.

None of us get out of this life alive and you can't always prevent
everything.

My sisters ex dropped dead of a heart attack a week after he had a complete
physical and a clean bill of health.  It happens.

I still choose to get up every morning and try not to live in fear.

Jo
Ladybug75 - 27 Jul 2007 03:04 GMT
And I bet you he will tell you, that your EKG doesn't show any
abnormalities, no further testing is necessary.

KGO-TV, ABC7 anchor Pete Wilson dead at 62
Bay Area TV anchor and radio talk show host Pete Wilson - whose local
broadcast career spanned three decades - died after suffering a heart attack
during hip replacement surgery at Stanford Hospital, KGO-AM radio officials
confirmed Saturday.

You couldn't write in the group like the story originally was writtgn.  You
tried slight of hand with the following:.

News Anchor dies during Hip surgery.

Ever hear of innunuendo?

Gutless, cowardly jackasses love to use them all the time.

... Nothing like slitting your throat with the cutting edge of technology.

I didn't realize English is your second language.  It is spelled innuendo
and not innunuendo.  Second innuendo is defined as an oblique illusion (you
will need your dictionary to look up what that word means).

He was a news anchor.
He died during hip surgery.

You're right.  My post was filled with illusion.

Now try to wrap your mind around "why wasn't it detected?" or "what tests
could have been done?"  Those were INTERESTING topics on talk radio for two
days following his death.

Ah, spelling and grammar, the last refuge of the lost.  For the record I'd
bet Firechief's vocabulary against pretty near anyone's any day.

You so aren't worth it, but lets try one more time.  (Oh and maybe then you
might want to look of obtuse.)

It wasn't what you said.  It was what you didn't say.  And where and when
you didn't say it.

Even a half assed attempt to spook people about hip replacement surgery is
tacky.  More so a group of people who have a dear friend currently
undergoing hip surgery.  As well as a group who have a very high risk factor
for needing such surgery themselves.

Using the death of Pete Wilson who devoted his life to accurate sharing of
facts makes it inexcusable.

The lack of which is the first refuge of the illiterate.

How does that not surprise me?

"Look of obtuse?"  See why I am not surprised?   BTW, I can't think of a
better definition than citing "jofirey speak"

> It wasn't what you said.  It was what you didn't say.  And where and when

Sorry but I don't use the subject line for posting.

If people are spooked by that subject line they should probably delay any
surgery for as long as they can because they are not ready.

Maybe if they read the article they will ask appropriate questions and
alleviate some of their "spookability" (sorry I had to use more "jofirey
speak").

Jo, Jo, Jo.  You are a physician's best friend.  Rather than answer tough
questions the physician would only have to give you a warm soft shoulder to
cry on and a clean handkerchief to dry your tears.
Ladybug75 - 30 Jul 2007 23:30 GMT
Why are so aggressive, and correcting someone vocabulary is so mean, we are
here to get support and learn, why are you here? insulting someone?
By the way do you speak a second language?

He is an 'Internet Warrior' (aka Troll) who has to express his exceeding
intelligence and superior knowledge because he can't cut it in the real
world. About on the same level as the spammers and those who present one
with a deal 'you just can't refuse'. LOL!

You would have learned that if you would have gone to the trouble of reading
the article in the link I posted.

I will not apologize once more, and I did read the article...

Saying "The way I heard the news report his heart
could have given out any time." gave me the impression you did not read the
article but maybe "heard" about it somewhere.

Bull.  I had mine done 18 months ago and I researched every facet for over a
year including interviewing 7 different surgeons.  You know what  I never
asked? What would I have to do to identify a possible similar problem within
myself myself that killed Pete Wilson.  I had every other test he had.

Too bad you don't look at this as an opportunity to further cover your
bases.

Kiki,

please remind us closer to your next surgery so we can be praying and
sending good thoughts your way again.

You take care and heal quickly.

You are so sweet, I will remind you, I will be scared to death, even if I
just had the procedure done 9 weeks ago....
