I have pa and use mtx and it is great.
My older sister started getting PA about 2 years after me.

Mtx worked somewhat, then she started getting worse.  Added enbrel,
worked for a few weeks, then no  good.  Strated humera (not sure
spelling) did not work.

The doc brought up new biological. drugs.

Has anyone seen this as quickly and can anyone share any positive
experience.  She is worried. Our dad passed a few months ago and
things are tough.  PS...... WE ARE TOUGHER.

Thanks
Ralph

Hi Ralph,,, The stress of a parent passing away often makes our immune
system act up and that makes you normal and maybe tougher,, maybe not.
If your sisters blood tests show her liver is tolerating Methx well, she and
her RD could try a higher amount each week.

Ralph,
Sorry about what you guys are going through. I also have
spondyloarthropathy (of which PA is one). There is another biologic
available; Remicade. Unlike Humira and Enbrel, Remicade is given by IV
infusion. Also, sometimes other DMARDs (like methotrexate) are used. I
am on Enbrel, methotrexate, azulfidine, Clinoril (a non steroidal anti
inflammatory), and a muscle relaxer.
There are other biologicals coming down the pike, Orencia is the only
other one I can think one right now. The problem is that a lot of
these are tested for RA and may not work or work as well with
spondyloarthropathies.
I hope this helps. Good luck to you both,
Charlene
