Ack! Only four days to my deadline! Up to my eyeballs in revisions, so
my apologies for being so absent from the board. I hope everyone's
okay. Someone please let me know if that's not the case!

Question: what do teenaged boys/young men call their bathing suits
these days? the ones they wear on the beach, and the ones they wear in
the pool for swim team competition. (i assume these would be two
different types of suits).

thank you!

Swim shorts - beach etc.  (Per my 17 year old)

Competition I'll ask them at the pool later this morning.

OK.  Per cool looking sunblonde young guy at the pool, Beach and casual are
just called shorts or swim shorts.  Competition suits are still called
Speedos.

Well if you don't have time to go up the the local pool and interview all
the cute guys in the name of research, somebody has to do it, right?

Not enough nerve to do your own research huh?  ;~>'

I'd love to see that too.  I'm guessing that's why I got a half way
embarrassed reaction when I asked at the pool.  Swimming lessons are over
for right now, so I haven't an excuse to be up there questioning them.

For anyone with insight into teen and preteen behavior, what it with the
spitting?  My own reflex reaction to someone spitting it to slap the living
daylights out of them.

come to think of it, i remember alex and practically his whole football team
doing that from junior high all the way through high school (all over the
field as well.  it was no wonder there was such a high incidence of staph
and strept infections among those kids!---and alex heard many lectures about
that.)  at the time, i thought it began as mimicry of the pro players that
quickly became habitual.
