Stay Away from "Holistic Dentistry"
Much of "holistic dentistry" is rooted in the activities of Weston A. Price,
D.D.S. (1870-1948), a dentist who maintained that sugar causes not only
tooth decay but physical, mental, moral, and social decay as well. Price
made a whirlwind tour of primitive areas, examined the natives
superficially, and jumped to simplistic conclusions. While extolling their
health, he ignored their short life expectancy and high rates of infant
mortality, endemic diseases, and malnutrition. While praising their diets
for not producing cavities, he ignored the fact that malnourished people
don't usually get many cavities.

Bullshit. Read the book and form your own opinion. It is an eye-
opener, especially regarding the direction that modern medicine has
taken. That medical doctors get little or no education on the role of
proper nourishment in health is absolutely f.cking criminal.

Think of him as a pioneer, and don't necessarily "believe" in any one
particular claim. A major problem these days is that while there is
plenty of excellent evidence, only a few items get trumpeted by the
mainstream media and find their way into textbooks. What is needed
now is to "step back," and ask the question, is there a way of
viewing the evidence as a whole that would lead to a very different
approach than the one most doctors are taught to adopt? On my free
site, I discuss just such a new approach ("preventative" for the most
part, though I point out some things that might help with existing
problems):

I like the book and I think it is an eye opener like another poster.
The problem is I do not agree with all the theory in the book. Very
few people know how to analyze the article or books they read. Many
take advice and give too much credit to newspaper, TV and anything
that is printed. I'm a victim sometime myself. But that is how we
learn as human........Get as much info as we could, and using all the
new knowledge to sive through all datas to collect good info's. After
a while we come out with our own hypothesis and models to test our
theory. So I will suggest reader to read this book and decide on your
own.
the world is changing fast, but great minds find the pathway through
it. Listen, read, become a keen observer, and connect the dots to make
sense of it all.

The interesting thing about Dr Price's book is that he does not come
off as an activist selling some newfangled "corn flakes". He comes
across as an intelligent individual examining his environment. And the
corner of the environment he specifically chose to examine is that
which shows the greatest and the clearest contrast between good health
from good nutrition and poor health from poor nutrition. His
descriptions, his photos and the facts that he presents all bear
testimony to a clear cause and effect. But......
Unfortunately, in todays world where money is king, where the food
industry is a powerful lobby, where multi-billion dollar corporations
in the pharmaceutical industry depend on the poor general health of
the population for their profits, where governments are essentially
spokespeople for these industries, pointing out the presence and the
perils of poor nutrition on peoples health is not necessarily what any
of these people want to hear. Politicians have a vested interest in no
one questioning the quality of the food supply. They "regulate" it so
they are responsible for it.
There is no surprise that some groups of people choose to try to make
this research appear to be at best inconsequential or at worse
nonsense.
But the great thing about his research is that anyone with a modicum
of intelligence can read the book and understand clearly what is being
said. Dr Price did not write it in scientific technical gobbledy-gook.
Anyone can read it and make up their own minds. I strongly suggest
eveyone do that.
I am going to purchase several copies and donate them to local
libraries.
