Hi Everyone!

Since you have all listened to me whine non-stop, especially for the
last 6 months since my stroke,  I thought I'd finally share some good
news with you for a change!

Went today for my test to see if I would be allowed to go back to
driving, and ...........

Woooohooooooooooooo!!!

Yep, I passed!!!

Did you all hear that very loud screech of joy coming from michigan this
afternoon?

Got there and had to do 4 different tests!

And here I thought I was just going for a simple road test!

Had to do a written test, then another written portion that was all on
street signs, then the standard vision exam, then it was out to the car
and did a go over on my car to make sure all lights, signals, horn, etc
worked, then _finally_ got in the car to do the actual road test!

Now, by this time I am soooo nervous and figured I would just chat while
driving to release some of the pent up stress.

Sooooo, asked the man a question and he said, very firmly, "there will
be no talking during this portion of the test other than me telling you
which direction to go and what I want you to do."

Yikes!!!   Alrighty then!

Drove around for about 15 minutes or so and then back to the secretary
of states office it was.

I barely get the car stopped in the parking spot and the guy jumped out
of the car and said he had to go in and type up his report and then he
would talk to me in about 15 minutes and discuss my outcome!

Sheesh, talk about nerve wracking!!!

He _finally_ called me back into his office and said I passed everything
with flying colors, gave me a copy of the report he had typed up and
asked if I had any questions. Ummmm, nooooo, I don't think so, I said,
and then he said: "well it was nice meeting you!"

LOLOLOL-----Couldn't get out of there fast enough!!!

They ( secretary of states office) released me with no restrictions at
all today, and my doctors and I have been discussing the times I
shouldn't drive and the times it is ok to drive, so will have some
limitations set up by my doctors working with me to be safe.

Whew!!!   Am totally exhausted now, as I haven't slept for the last
two nights worrying about this all.

I should sleep REALLY well tonight---LOL!!!

Man, felt like I was 16 all over again.

Thanks sooooooo much for all the prayers and well wishes, they
definitely were felt and definitely helped me get through all of this
today!!!

Happy, happy, joy, joy!!!

Hugs,

Donna

Ah-ha!  so that was what we heard yesterday afternoon!  heehee

good news, Donna.   I know how great it feels to have some control over doing
things yourself.  And I have to give you a pat on your back for going along
with whatever restrictions your doctors suggest.  It's wonderful that you
have your mobility back and even more wonderful that you are using it safely!

That's wonderful news, Donna.  They sure put you through the wringer
though, didn't they?  I was under the impression (false though it may
be) that the doctor just had to tell the powers that be that you could
drive and voila!   I'm sure glad you are behind the wheel again.

Congratulations Donna.  Looks as if you knew more than you thought you did!
What a relief you must have felt.

Jayne took me for my protime check yesterday and than drove back to her
house.  I told her I would drop her off and then drive to my house.  She
told me how many turns I'd have to make and to call her when I got home.
Said she felt like she was letting a 15 year old drive for the first time!
Since  I had not driven in 5 months, I almost felt the same way.

Wow, you all know I have shared many times before how very very blessed
I am to have such incredibly wonderful friends.

Well today there was a knock at my door and here was an absolutely
gorgeous, and I do mean gorgeous, arrangement of flowers!!!

They were from one of my friends to congratulate me on getting my
driving privileges back!

Can you believe that?   That was soooooo sweet!!!   I still can't
believe she did that and I was in tears just over how generous and
thoughtful that was!

Talk about a real morale booster!!!   I wish you could all smell
them---they are soooo fragrant!

I truly am blessed beyond words to have such incredible, loving
friends!!!

May you be blessed today as well.

Thanks, everyone, for sharing in my joy with me.   It is so good to know
that I _can_  go out and just hop in the car and go if I feel up to it
now.  No worrying about not driving because the law tells me I can't.
Just knowing you can drive when you feel like it is such freedom!

Appreciate you all sharing in the celebration!!!

Stay cool this week!

Donna, I know just what you mean.  I've only used my car one time to run to

there and I can use it if I want to makes a big difference in the way I

Cindy

Hugs,

Donna
