Thanks for this post. I can tell how much I enjoy reading about your son
and you are so right,,, live, grow, be,,,,, then you will turn around a man
stands before you ready to face the world. I do not know how but make your
trip with your daughter special just for her. I know that is not the case,
its to get your son but it is quality time for you and her.

Ps,,,,, I had a good friend from the neighborhood that her father sent out
west to pick and work the fields to make a man out of him... A man returned
and a different person and not the person I had to whip once a week.
Someone had to break up our spats from then on or we would of killed each
other. That same guy put together an Indian motor cycle with a Harley 45
motor sent to calf. to be balanced and port and relieve job with a little
more stroke. Metallic green it was. The first metalflake job I ever saw.
It was loud and fast, I could him start it up at my house from his. I
would say to my self,,, well Joe is off to work at his dads survey
company.... Many years later my oldest son worked in one of Joe jrs.
survey crews just like he did when he was a teen. I have got to get up
there and shake his hand again before the Lord calls he or I.

Vickie,
Good to hear your son's nose looks wonderful ;-)
Good that he has the work at the Dept. of Agriculture. I know you will both
miss him.
Sounds good that you get to go back to get him.

Thank you Vickie,,,,, its all true and it was in a time when boys are raised
to be men. There is so much more to that story about my friend Joe from
the neighborhood. One thing, he went into the air force and while gone to
basic, that great motorcycle was chained up through the wheels to something
in the back of his families garage. His family raised 4 cousins from two
related family members and they always had one or two foster kids there too
all the time.
When Joe returned home from basic training, it was in a pile of junk,,,
wrecked. His cousin had sawed through the chain and had a wreck, a bad
one. It was the first thing he saw. He found out from his mother who had
done the deed and he went through the house until he found him and beat the
crap out of him. His mother and dad put Joe out on his own and said he was
not welcome there any more. It broke his heart. When he came home on
leave after that, he stayed at my house. It was a time when the wife and I
had two small kids and he always had candy in his pockets for them,,,always.
He and his parents made peace after that and he lived there while he got
his surveyors license to eventually take over the family business.
I must get up there to talk old times with my friend.

Vickie,
Glad your son got off ok. You will likely miss him a great deal but
also be so proud of what a wonderful young man he has become. They sure
grow up quickly don't they?
Have a wonderful summer and the time to go out and pick your son back up
will be here before you know it.
Hugs,
Donna
