Kiki, being uncemented is the reason you have to wait so long for everything

Cement was part of why my revision was such a mess.  The second surgeon said
the first one "glued where he should have screwed and screwed where he
should have glued".  You are much better off without cement- any future
revisions will be *much* easier on you- altho the recovery time is a bit
longer while your bone grows into the mesh of prosthetic joint.  That said,
with this "very extensive" revision  of mine, I was still doing PT exercises
on day 5.  I'll bet your rehab facility gets you up and moving and
exercising.  That's a very smart move on your part rather than going
directly home after surgery.  If they can get you to the point where you are
fairly independent you'll be so much better off in the long run.  The
feeling of accomplishment and knowing 'you CAN do it' is a great incentive
to your recovery.  I have voluntarily increased my repetitions and length of
exercises every few days.  I want to get better and get out of this house-
I'm missing all my gardening this year and can't work on my quilts either.
grrrrr!!!

Leslie

PS:  The other day I dropped an article of clothing on the floor.  My
precious Missy dog (she has a terminal cancer growing in her upper gum and
her beautiful face is terribly distorted now) was with me, so on a whim I
pointed at it and said 'get it'.  She did it- and she's not been trained as
an assistance dog, she just knows me well and loves me and would do anything
for me  Then she brought it and handed it to me as nice as could be.  I was
sooooo proud of her!  Today I dropped a good-sized tomato on the floor and
again asked her to 'get it'.  She handed it to me without piercing the
tomato's skin- even with her sadly misshapen mouth and teeth.  And she
adores eating tomatoes- it must have been a terrible temptation for her to
gobble it down!  For a smile, see the pics of her and my HairyButt Gang
stealing tomatoes from my garden last summer-

Tomatoes and mushrooms were the two only foods our old lab wouldn't touch -
a texture thing.  Of course our new 3 year old mutt has a major list of
things he doesn't touch - tops being dog food unless it has been in his dish
for at least a couple of days.  Mr. picky would rather be right with us or
guarding the rose bushes than eating.

Great pictures - thanks for sharing.  Now for the quilt information????

Kelly-

What did you want to know about quilts?  VBG  Have you been to
rec.crafts.textiles.quilting?  May be brain fog, but I can't remember if you
are on that ng???  We have several 'Kelly's there......

Just wondered what you were quilting?  Do you have a longarm?  Is it a
hobby, an obsession.  You know - the nosy stuff.

Nope not on that newsgroup. I do the Dear Jane newsgroup and 3 Canadian ones
so those keep me busy.  I have a Monday morning group that meets each week
and our once a month guild.

Just snoopy:)

Yes, Kelly, hobby/obsession about covers it!   LOL  I always make a quilt to
take to the hospital with me- hospitals are always so cold that I'm
shivering, I use bright colors to cheer me up and my quilt always starts a
lot of conversations.  I use my regular home sewing machine for everything
since my hands don't work very well any more.  Here's 'My Hippy Horse-pital
Quilt' made for the latest hip replacement incarceration-

Yup that is what I wanted to see and hear about - a wonderful obsession.  I
love your quilt and your freemotion stitching is incredible.  My hands don't
work well anymore either but it is amazing what a person can accomplish with
10 minute periods on a sewing machine.

I also find conversations start up with my quilting.  the lady beside me
during my infusion last week was a quilter.  We talked stores for well most
of her infusion time.  Took my mind off my reaction.

Thanks for sharing Leslie - love those colours but your free motion has me
in awe.  A couple of your designs were absolutely incredible.
