So just got the bracelets!   To all of you newbies out there and
everyone lurking and of course all of the old members, you know I am
going to keep bugging everyone until I shake everyone lose from the
bushes <g>

This is simple-email me your address and i send you a bracelet.  It is
safe; it will be fun; we get to contribute to cancer research as well
as awareness; we get to connect to each other; and the  most important
part is that we get to support our wonderful DeeTee.  I have orders
for 26 and I know a few of you are going to get bracelets on your own
or through Kimmy.  So my goal here is a 100 monkey kind of thing.
Let's get one hundred bracelets on ASA wrists

I am more than happy to send out  these bracelets to anyone who wants
one.  So if you have a spouse or child or sister or mom of friend who
wanta a bracelet,  email me!

If every ASA person would contact 1 old member who isn' posting to see
if they want a bracelet, we can reach that goal.  Imagine one day, say
two weeks from now, we set a time to all send out our best wishes to
DeeTee, all at once.  Imagine how many people might ask you what your
bracelet means.  Imagine pebbles on a lake just spreading out further
and further.  Imagine the smile on your face as you  look doen at your
bracelet and remember an ASA story or friend.

And again for all of you who are newbies, this is an easy way for you
to feel connected and for all our darlings lurkers to come out of
those bushes!

So sned me requests-I can't wait to fill them!!!!

REPOST OF INITIAL THREAD

So here's the thing....I was sitting on a bench at the beach on
tuesday, watching a huge display by the seals, pelicans, seagulls.
There were at least 30 seals playing off of our wharf.  It was sunny
and my higher power was certainly close.

My monkey mind went from lamenting missing the MS walk this year, to
the relationships of mothers and daughters, Kate and her mom and
DeeTee and Linda, prayers, ASA , the nature of the universe and Mr.
Rogers.  I love that Mr. Rogers interview where he talked about being
asked to prayer for so many people and that each prayer he said for
someone else made him feel blessed and grateful that he knew that many
people to pray for and got to daily forge that many connections.

I was also thinking about ASA people of the past like Char who I miss
everyday just to name one of several hundred.  One thing that has
always been strange in newsgroup reality is that we lose touch with
each other.  We had a buddy system years ago where at least one person
had your phone number.  It is just so strange to realize as we go
through the  archives, how many people we have such intense
relationships with who for whatever the reason, are no longer posting.

Out of those windmills of my mind, I came up with an idea.  I want to
get a number of ovarian cancer bracelets, like the lance armstrong
living strong yellow bracelets or the pink one for breast cancer.  I
found the bracelets (they are sold as a benefit for the lynne cohen
ovarian cancer foundation).  What I would like to do is offer everyone
on ASA a bracelet that we can wear (they are very unisex-here I see as
many men with yellow bracelets as I do women).  If Jo is up for it,
she and i can mail them out to anyone who wants one.  The purpose
would be to support ovarian cancer research, to remember often each
day to say a prayer for DeeTee, and to know that we as a whole group
of people called ASA members, are connected to each other. My vision
for this would be that as we wear these bracelets, we get to hold
DeeTee close to our hearts and then later, when you aren't wearing the
bracelet which now resides in your jewelry  or keepsake box or on your
dresser or around the shift knob of your car, you will remember all of
your ASA family and say hi.

Love seeing you post.  I can only imagine how busy your life is.

As I'm writing this, my nephew and his wife and their new son are flying
home to Maryland from Korea.  Conditions for the babies are so much better
now than they were when we adopted Tara from Korea 30 years ago.

I'll bet your girls are a handful.
