Well, it's been 3 weeks today since my surgery. The incision is healing
well, but I can't stand up or walk around too much or the insides start
hurting. From what the nurse told me, they had to do a lot of twisting and
turning me on the operating table in order to reach all of the tumor. So I
have more healing to do.
I will be starting chemotherapy this Friday (4/27) at 8:30 AM. It'll take
about 5 hours for each session, three weeks apart, six sessions - so about 4
1/2 months. I have several hats so I doubt I will go for a wig. However, I
am leaving that option open so have applied to our insurance company for
pre-authorization for my 'cranial prosthesis.' LOL I'll let everyone know
how well I do on the chemotherapy.

That's the DeeTee that I know.... Looking at something so fearful with her
good humor showing,,,, being confident in what is to be done is for the
best,,, its makes me think of the passenger that stood up to the terrorists
with other help and made that plane plow up the ground instead of the place
the terrorists had picked out,,,, it makes me think of the professor that
blocked the door so that his students could get out the window and died for
it.
Courage is where you find it and our DeeTee has that kind of courage and
she knows that there are soooo many people praying for and pulling for her
to do well. May God bless you and yours.

If you decide you need more hats, let me know your favorite color and
I'll find some soft, summer yarn and make you a hat.

OH Dee Tee you are such a strong woman. I admire you for that.
I am hoping the treatments don't give you too many side effects. I hope they
do the job and all will go well with you. I will be having you in my prayers
for a long time to come.

It is not even slightly surprising to me that you are still sore,
DeeTee. Prayers for a successful chemo and an easy time with it.

UPDATE: The chemo starts WEDNESDAY, not Friday. The nurse said she had a
brain dump. LOL

Hey Dee Tee,
I am there already with the hair thing. I have been for a couple of weeks
now. So don't feel alone. Mine isn't because of chemo. It is becaues I
couldn't afford to have my hair cut for the last three years and hubby has
cut it for me. Twice now he forgot to change out the blade and well I look
like I have gone thru chemo. So If you do start losing your hair, you have a
friend that already has no hair. LOL ;-)
I can't be mad at him, he tries. He really does and with both us so fibro
fogged out, it happens. ;-)
So I have the Telly Salvas look and I will get the bracelet from M, and I
will be supporting you all the way.
You really are such a courageous woman. I admire that in you.
Shhh don't tell Jim I told you about this. I don't want him to feel worse
than he already does. The poor man.

Hmmmm. Maybe this is why my grandma never cut her hair. She put it up
during the day and braided it at night.
I've always thought I might do that some day as I'm one of the many lucky
ones of her descendents to have her very thick non greying hair.
My not quite forty daughter has more grey than I do, and she isn't very
happy about it.
More likely I'll have the guy who cuts my hair take a trimmer to most of
mine as soon as the weather gets hot. Wash and wear is the only way to go
around here in the summer.

I learned that in boot camp and have had my
hair short since 1954. (The beard is new
since 1994.)

Prayers that your chemo goes well and doesn't take too much of a toll on your
body. And listen to your body on the healing front and don't push things too
much - having that tumor in you was hard to begin with and the removal had to
be worse!

Wishing you all good things. May the chemo not affect you too badly. And may
you continue to hold onto this wonderful attitude!!
My Mom was tender quite a while not just because of the manipulating to
reach the tumor, but also all the 'digging' to get to lymph nodes and also
soreness from their removal). It takes a while, so be kind to yourself.
