So here's the thing....I was sitting on a bench at the beach on
tuesday, watching a huge display by the seals, pelicans, seagulls.
There were at least 30 seals playing off of our wharf.  It was sunny
and my higher power was certainly close.

My monkey mind went from lamenting missing the MS walk this year, to
the relationships of mothers and daughters, Kate and her mom and
DeeTee and Linda, prayers, ASA , the nature of the universe and Mr.
Rogers.  I love that Mr. Rogers interview where he talked about being
asked to prayer for so many people and that each prayer he said for
someone else made him feel blessed and grateful that he knew that many
people to pray for and got to daily forge that many connections.

I was also thinking about ASA people of the past like Char who I miss
everyday just to name one of several hundred.  One thing that has
always been strange in newsgroup reality is that we lose touch with
each other.  We had a buddy system years ago where at least one person
had your phone number.  It is just so strange to realize as we go
through the  archives, how many people we have such intense
relationships with who for whatever the reason, are no longer posting.

Out of those windmills of my mind, I came up with an idea.  I want to
get a number of ovarian cancer bracelets, like the lance armstrong
living strong yellow bracelets or the pink one for breast cancer.  I
found the bracelets (they are sold as a benefit for the lynne cohen
ovarian cancer foundation).  What I would like to do is offer everyone
on ASA a bracelet that we can wear (they are very unisex-here I see as
many men with yellow bracelets as I do women).  If Jo is up for it,
she and i can mail them out to anyone who wants one.  The purpose
would be to support ovarian cancer research, to remember often each
day to say a prayer for DeeTee, and to know that we as a whole group
of people called ASA members, are connected to each other. My vision
for this would be that as we wear these bracelets, we get to hold
DeeTee close to our hearts and then later, when you aren't wearing the
bracelet which now resides in your jewelry  or keepsake box or on your
dresser or around the shift knob of your car, you will remember all of
your ASA family and say hi.

Kimmy, can you post this on the site you and KJ have as there are
also many people who post there who don't post much on ASA?

So the mechanics of this will be:

Let me know if you want a bracelet.  Send me an address.  I ordered
the first 20 today but will keep getting bracelets until we run out of
people who want bracelets.

Let's raise some money for ovarian cancer, support or darling DeeTee,
and reinforce out community of ASA.

I will repost this every three or four days as things do get lost
quickly

One last thing, please reach out for a bracelet whether you are a
regular member, a lurker, or a newbie.

I really like the idea but how about if I buy one here and save the postage.
I will get a yellow one from the ovarian cancer fundraisers and you will
know and I will know it is sending out that message.  If you want one and
can't get one anywhere else Rose I can send you one too.  I like the idea
Melinda!

Hi Kelly,
Let me look into getting one here tomorrow, and if that does not work
then I will let you know.
Melinda, I think it is a great idea, but do not think the cost should
be yours. Those that can pay for their own should, i think, and in
that way will be contributing a tiny bit to cancer research and
showing support for DeeTee, and others, as they go through this.
It is a small price to pay and will show solidarity for each other as
you said.
Thanks for thinking of this.

Thank you, Sweetheart! I would love to have one as well. I know that my
family would like them as well. I think I will go to the website and order
the ones my family would need. It would be pretty special knowing that ASA
members were wearing them in honor of me and as a prayer reminder. Thank you
for your thought!

I miss you too! I wish life wasn't so crazy right now. It seems like
there is always ten thousand chores, errands,  etc to be done around
here and no one but me to do them! Poor hubby is working 60+ hrs a week
lately.

I'm seeing a chiropractor for the first time tomorrow. The sciatica is
acting up in my right hip making life pretty miserable. FMS reared its
ugly head tonight too... it hurt to sit in the hot tub. Water hurt!! It
wasn't really hot either, we keep it at about 95F because anything
hotter than that creates too much steam and triggers my asthma. *sigh*

Grrrr, sorry for the whine but that's just where I'm at today LOL.

Ashley,

good to see you post. Have missed you.

I am sorry you are flaring big time. I hope it is short lived.

You don't need to be sorry for the whine, we all have those days. So here is
some cheese to go along with that whine. Don't want you to get a headache
from drinking without eating too. LOL ;-)

Love you girl. You hang in there and post when you can.

All I can say about the chiro is OMG. I'm sold! I walked out of the
appointment with no hip pain! Do you know how long it has been since my
hip hasn't hurt?!?!?!

I miss you too Squirrely. Love you! *hugs*

I am glad the chiro worked out like that for you. I know when I was going to
a chiro I was doing so much better. But can't afford one now again. So have
to do what I have to do.

You take care. KNow that you are missed when you are not around. I am so
glad you did check in and the chiro did so much for you. Take care.

Life does that to us at times!  We're happy to see you when you have time,
otherwise remember to take care of yourself before worrying about checking
in.  I hope the DH gets some tiem to decompress from work and that you two
still get some nice time together.

I hope you found a god chiro.  A good one makes such a wonderful difference
with back issues.  I still miss the gentle chiro I had 3 moves ago....

My fibro's been wild lately, butt has calmed down the last couple of days.  I
think the weather actually stabilizing for a bit is helping.  Hopefully yours
will calm down soon, too.  Now, let's cross our fingers that the wild winter
doesn't morph into an unusually hot summer!

I have a friend who was just this week diagnosed with cancer of the lungs
(started there), the brain & the liver.

His wife said the doctors told him 1 to 2 years.  She thought he had a
stroke because he was slurring his words and at times couldn't talk.  His
name is James Reeves.  Please put him your prayers.  Thanks.

We went wine tasting today, the event hosted by the Michigan Wine Trail
in SW MI. It was a lot of fun and something that we really enjoy. =)

This chiro is a God-send. If he had a fan club I'd be his biggest fan!
He was really attentive when I talked about FMS and my other problems,
along with passing along tidbits of information of what he can do to
help, especially regarding my hip/back pain and migraines. I see him 2x
next week to "check up" on the re-alignment he gave me and then said it
was up to me how often I came to see him. He wasn't preachy or pushy
like some chiro stories I've heard. He was gentle, but effective.

i would love to have a bracelet, melinda. but i want to contribute,
too. tell us how.
last month, i lost a friend to ovarian cancer. (dee tee, i hasten to
add that by the time hers was found, it had metastisized to her liver
and lung. it sounds as though they've caught yours in time.)

diane
DeeTee and Bob Taggart - 21 Apr 2007 12:51 GMT
Yes, they did. I was stage I. My tumor was well-formed and had not spread to
the lymph nodes yet (despite being the size of a volleyball!). I didn't even
know the symptoms of ovarian cancer so never went to the doc. I thought it
was just from the digestive problems I'd been having. When my bladder
starting giving me problems and when the pain got pretty bad, that's when I
went in. Thanks to a very agressive gynecologic oncologist, the tumor and
its accoutrements were removed before they could do permanent damage.

Hugs, DeeTee

P.S. The symptoms are:
a.. Bloating- clothes may no longer fit, this is beyond monthly water
retention
a.. Feeling full after eating a small amount of food
a.. Fatigue and tiredness- a general feeling of malaise
a.. Low back pain
a.. Pelvic or abdominal pain or discomfort
a.. Vague, but persistent gastrointestinal upsets such as gas, nausea and
indigestion
a.. Frequency and/or urgency of urination without having an urinary tract
infection
a.. Unexplained changes in bowel habits;
a.. Unexplained weight gain or weight loss, particularly weight gain in the
abdominal region
a.. Pelvic and/or abdominal swelling, bloating, and/or feeling of fullness

What a wonderful idea M.  I am more than happy to join in this support
as well, but like others, don't think you should have to bear the burden
of purchasing and mailing all of these, so will look around here to see
if I can find one locally or go online.

God bless you though for coming up with the idea and for sharing it with

this is a lovely idea, but I have to ask how easy the bracelets are to take
on and off. I've been flaring enough lately that even my good wrist is being
slapped into its brace overnight.  I don't want to wear brace and bracelet
both at one time!

If they aren't relatively easy to take on and off, I'll join all of you in
spirit.  As I said earlier, I used to work on a GYN Oncology unit and I've
seen too many women lose their battle with the disease.  (of course the ones
we really got to know were the sickest one, getting all stops out inpatient
treatment.)
