I lost over 100 pounds and _now_ my knees start bothering me!

I tore the cartilage in the right one in 1974 and  I  broke the left one in
1982. Both are unstable but the left one is worse.

The doctor gives me lidocaine/cortisone injections in them. It helps with
the pain and stabilizing them.

I was worried, as bad as the left knee had gotten that he was going to
suggest surgery. Well, he said as long as I can get around and the
injections work, he says I won't need surgery. Whew!

I shall try to stay in the ng this time. LOL

You might also want to ask him about Lidoderm (lidocaine patches).  I
use them for the bursitis in my knees and shoulders when it gets
really bad.  What I like about them, is they don't seem to make the
surface numb, but rather they numb underneath the skin.  That might be
an option for you between injections.

I do have the lidoderm patches. I mostly use them for my back but I'll start
using them for my knees, too. It just never occurred to me. LOL

Thanks. :)
