My doctor just called and all my blood work turned out great, even the white
count, which I assume means I don't have an infection it was a little low
5.something. Said my sed rate was normal also, but I have never had a high
sed rate. Does seem weird that they tell me I have walking pneumonia and
feel like crap yet my blood work looks normal. Has me wondering if I need to
be on these high powered antibiotics, and if I should be skipping the
enbrel.
The swollen glands or lymph nodes under my arms seem to be a little better
but still have the burning eyes, and extreme tiredness but atleast if I am
planning on leaving I don't have a really bad infection, from what I under
stand it should have been high if I was having an infection or a virus I
think
Well thanks again for all the good advice and well wishes.

Becky

I found some info on walking pneumonia on the Mayo Clinic site:

The term walking pneumonia is often used to describe pneumonia that
isn't severe enough to require bed rest or hospitalization. If you've
been told that you have walking pneumonia, it's probably caused by
tiny organisms called Mycoplasma. Signs and symptoms of Mycoplasma
pneumonia are milder and appear more gradually than those of other
kinds of pneumonia. When needed, treatment may include antibiotics.
Viral pneumonia also can be very mild at times.

Mycoplasma. This tiny bacterium causes signs and symptoms similar to
those of other bacterial and viral infections, although symptoms
appear more gradually and are often mild and flu-like. If you've been
told you have "walking pneumonia," it's probably caused by mycoplasma.
You may not be sick enough to stay in bed or to seek medical care, and
may never even know you've had pneumonia. Mycoplasma pneumonia spreads
easily in situations where people congregate and is common in child-
care centers and among school children and young adults. It may
account for as many as one-third of childhood cases. Mycoplasma
pneumonia responds well to treatment with the appropriate antibiotics,
although you may continue to have a dry, nagging cough during your
convalescence.

Hope this helps some......... GET WELL!!!!!

Becky,

Because of the immune suppressing meds we take, our labs don't always
project the true picture.   One of the worst cases of pneumonia I ever
had (and documented by both chest x-ray and CT scan) had my white count
down to 2-3 and just a slightly elevated sed rate.  Very weird, but my
rheumatologist said not all that unusual due to the meds.

Don't assume you don't need to be on the antibiotics and don't push
yourself and overdo things.  You don't want nor need to get sicker than
you already are!!!

You still need to take very good care of yourself, lots and lots of
rest, plenty of fluids, and take it easy.   Like I said previously,
pneumonia can take quite some time to clear completely and the cough and
fatigue can last a long time so just be good to yourself!!!

Hi Becky,
You mentioned you had "burning eyes". Has that been diagnosed as dry
eye syndrome?
Sincerely,  BlackHawk

Hi Becky,
When  I had it last month they tested me for viral and bacterial and found
nothing. Still though, x-ray showed some fluid in the lung. Know 4 other
people who developed pneumonia from this little bug going around this year.

Well I called the doctor this am, I can't stand not sleeping, each night
after starting the levaquin, it makes me not sleepy. I lay awake till about
4 am each night. This morning I feel worse then I did before I took the
stuff. I called the doctor and he said since my labs look fine,a nd the
medicine I have had it for 5 days just to stop it and go and enjoy my trip.
Thought that was kinda weird from a 14 day regime to 5 days is enough. But I
guess I have to go with what he says, would have thought he might want me to
come in and at least listen to my lungs, but guess not.
Well I am off them and will leave for phoenix as planned, they have clinics
down there if need be, it is going to be hot down there looks like up in the
high 80's and low 90's/
