I talked with Diane's husband, Wayne, last night. He said Diane went into
the hospital 6 weeks ago. She had the surgery on her leg, then went into ICU
4 weeks ago. Something happened in her stomach, they opened her up and it
was the colon problem. They cleaned all that out and then 2 days later had
to open her up and clean it out again. She is on a ventilator and has been
for several weeks. After a week and a half, they had to remove the tube to
the ventilator that was going down her throat because of severe irritation
and did a tracheotomy. Now she is being ventilated through that. She is full
of infections, everywhere, and is on loads of antibiotics. They are taking
it one day at a time. Everyday that she is still here is good. As we all
know, he said she is a fighter and is fighting the fight of her life. He
said that if she was not such a fighter, she wouldn't still be here. But she
wants to go home very, very, badly and she is fighting every minute so she
can go home. He wants all of us to know that the prayers are VERY much
appreciated and asks that we continue as she needs all the prayers possible.
She is alert, but cannot talk, but she knows what is happening and
everything that is said to her. He said we can mail the cards to her house
as he checks the mail daily and brings Diane's mail to her daily. Or, we can
send them to the hospital. He expects she will be in ICU for at least 2 or 2
and a half more weeks. Diane is very touched that we are all praying for her
and calling the hospital to check on her and have planned a card slam for
her. So, guys, keep the prayer machine cranked up full blast and let's all
really, really bombard her with our cards! Wayne promised to keep us updated
on her condition.

I left out the part about her kidneys....sorry guys. She is on dialysis.
They're not sure if her kidneys have shut down completely or if they will
gain function as she improves.

Thanks for the update Gloria.
Yes, I'd love to be involved in a card slam.

Damn! ( sorry foks, please excuse my language)
I really hate reading all that Diane has had to suffer through and all
that these diseases take from all of us. Diane is definitely a fighter
and prayers will continue---Please Lord hear our prayers and if at all
possible, give Diane back to us and to her family!!!
Will light a candle with the prayers and also keep up the e-cards and
support for Diane.

oh, my. this is so much more than anyone should go through. the fact that
she is still fighting is evidence of what a remarkable person she is. I'm
going back to keeping 2 candles going for her when I'm home and awake. they
help me keep the prayers coming throughout the day and we have to give her
all the support we can.

Diane's Spirit is what has always stood out for me...
She never let her illness get her down...Just keeps getting back up and
dusting herself off and keeps going for the next ride...Praying that spirit
of hers will once again come through for her...
