Hi Everyone,
Hope you all had a safe and fun weekend.

I am having alot of prob with tingling and numbing type pain in my
legs...feeling of restlessness.  I have tried Gabitril but it doesn't
do
anything but give me insomnia and nightmares when I do get to sleep!

Has someone found an effective treatment of this restlessness?

Thanks,
Kevin

I don't have restless legs, but quite a few people use Klonepin, I've
learned from reading many posts.  Nanny

Try sitting in a different chair.  Inflammation in your lower spine
can cause such side effects.

I have this problem alot.  I've taken quinine for ten years and it
helps!  Especially at night!  But the FDA will no longer allow it to
be prescribed for this problem.  (I still have a few left.)  I've
tried Klonapin but my insurance gives me fits every time I try to take
it.  (which I have done twice.)  But restless leg syndrome needs to be
properly diagnosed by your doctor.  There are some serious reasons for
it such as diabetes, nerve problems, foot problems etc.  Only your
doctor can come up with a correct prescription.  But some things to
try in the meantime are:  change positions-sit, stand, another chair,
lay, etc, have someone massage your legs, try heat/cold, even change
clothes-the seams will bother me sometimes, use pressure on the ball
of your foot.  But the most important is to talk with your doctor!

Take care,

Hi Kevin,

The severe RA I have triggered severe fibromyalgia that has the unfortunate
side effects of causing spastic muscle contractions in my legs, and
sometimes in my arms.  They were so much worse than restless leg syndrome,
and would jerk me awake all through the night to the point where I wasn't
getting any meaningful sleep.  It also caused numbness and tingling in my
lower legs and feet, that awful type of half-numb feeling where it's
"waking up" and gets maddingly tingly.

The doctor prescribed Baclofen and Ativan to control the spastic muscle
contractions, and they've done a marvelous job!  I'm actually getting good
sleep now.  The only thing that didn't clear up was the tingly numbing
feeling, but I can live with that.
