I hadn't thought about it, but DMARDS and other drugs which depress the auto-
immune system make you more susceptible to cold sores, etc., and that you can
get cold sores on parts of the body other than you lips.

Oh well...

I gather you're experiencing a bit of discomfort?  I'm sending a few quick
healing thoughts your way.

When my RD tried a heavy duty cocktail of DMARDS (MTX, Prednisone, Humira
and Plaquenil), I broke out in the most horrible bout of cold sores ever in
my life.  They were all over both lips, all along the "mustache" line, and
eventually up in my nostrils, having been spread there while blowing my
nose.  My BF declared that I looked like Typhoid Mary!

My RD recommended L-Lysine, 500 MG twice a day for the duration that I was
taking the cocktail (which had also spawned a number of infections that I
still get periodically as a result).

The L-Lysine did the trick.  Eventually it actually built up a natural
suppressant for the cold sores.  I had to discontinue it for awhile because
it also affected my tongue, causing a weird white coating with hairy
filaments in the "seams".

But anytime now that I get the least hint of a cold sore and I immediately
go back on the L-Lysine for several days, and it seems to inhibit the
formation of others.
