Seeing the doctor tomorrow

So I'm seeing my doctor in the morning. I've been having some chest
pains - mostly just when I exercise, but occasionally they come on at
random. It's very sharp pain and almost squeezing feeling. I suspect
it's not a huge deal, either related to my AS, like referred spinal
pain, (it's on the same level as some of my damaged vertebrae) or some
other similarly unexciting cause. I've also gained about 45 pounds in
the last year. Actually in the last 6 months. That's a lot. Especially
when I'm not being TERRIBLE about eating properly (though admittedly I
also haven't been particularly GOOD either.) Clearly the chest pain
could easily be associated to the weight gain too. There is also a VERY
small risk of heart-related complications of my disease, so that'd be
why I'm making sure all is ok by the doctor.

Our friend Donna is giving us a treadmill. We were saving up for one
when we were burglarized, and our savings ended up going to replacing
things that had been taken, and fixing up our place from the damage. So
she's giving us one for a small fee, but we have to get it here.
Treadmills are a pain in the booty to move, so we haven't gotten to it
yet. But we need to. Once I'm in the clear as far as the pain goes, I
need to get some decent exercise and eat right and get back to my usual
set-point. Cuz this is ridiculous. I'm physically uncomfortable, and
none of my clothes fit. That's just stupid!!

Anyway, wish me luck with the doc.

Aim, Its always nice to see your name on the ng. Although you may have
been around a lot lately cause I haven't although I try to check often
to make sure everyone is playing nice.>bg<
Good luck with the doc. I never like the sound of chest pains coming
from a bad heart family history but I bet you are right about it being
spine related.
Sure hope it settles down soon.

Luck, Aim, *good* luck!  That doesn't sound unlike my costo in its milder
days, which gives me hope it is connected with your AS.  It sounds like you
need a thorough review and med adjustment though with that weight gain.  hmm,
is the hypothyroidism auto-immune with you?  If the AS is kicking up, that
could be getting worse with a corresponding drop in thyroid hormones.... just
thinking and typing, here, which makes little sense with my right hand
currently misbehaving.  So, good thoughts and please report back!  And
remember we're happy to have you drop in more often!

Glad to hear you aren't waiting to see what it is.  Isn't uncommon for "us
guys" to assume it has to do with our current disease and wait.  Great news
about the treadmill too - try to find someone with muscles and a truck to
get it for you though Aim.

Take care - good to see your name on the group.

Will be thinking of you tomorrow
