I am not sure if I have posted an update recently. about a week after
her TKR revision my sister Iris had a debridement, but her wound was
still draining, so today, her surgeon went in and debrided again.
She has had that leg opened and re-opened more times than I can keep
track of, as it was several times with the first replacement, then the
"puck" was installed and later removed and the revision done. I think
it is about 11 times now that she has had that leg operated on. Now
granted the debridement is not as major a procedure, but it still does
involve a surgical procedure.
I am not sure when she will be coming home. When we went to see her
on the weekend she was restless and wanted to go home. It does not
look as though she will be going home anytime soon.
Thanks all.

In my prayers today Rose,,,,, It makes me think of my father who had 8 major
operations in his last 15 years. This kind of stress wears a person down
and support is so very important.

Hope things will go much better for her from now on. Seems to me hospitals
have become the best place to pick-up an infection, not cure it.

Rose, this must be incredibly frustrating for Iris and the whole
family. My prayers are with all of you for the best outcome.

sigh . . . the poor dear must be reaching her tolerance limit. can't blame
her a bit. i sure hope the debridements ultimately work magic for her. and
you, loving sis that you are, must be soooo wanting this to be successfully
over for her. it's soooo hard to watch somebody you love go through so much
and not be able to do very much about it.

More prayers for your Sis...
I do know that she must be so frustrated and depressed by all this...

did the surgeon say anything about how the wound looked thiss time versus the
first debridement? I'm hoping, praying, that it was better than the first
time to give some hope for healing to happen.
She's staying in my prayers.

just realized I hadn't replied to this (shows you where my head and pain
level is). I am sure Iris is champing at the bit to get home. Can they do
anything with home care at the moment. when will they know it is okay?
thinking of her - and you!
