Me, too.  Taking 20mg Lisinopril since 1998; no NSAIDs except occasional
as-needed ibuprofen and 325mg aspirin daily also since 1998; no problems
I can blame on Lisinopril.

Now for the question <g>
Was last Thursday the beginning of high readings or have you had high
reading other times during the last year?  Do you have a home moitoring
kit and if so what brand and model?  Blood pressure fluctuates so much
that most docs won't medicate the numbers you have unless they persist
for at least a few weeks.  What stress reduction things are you doing?
How much exercise?  Blood pressure elevation is something we aee
regularly as acupuncturists.  Chinese herbs can work well with
regulating blood pressure.  Strangely enough, I have had a handful of
patients who switched to the zone diet and found that controlled their
blood pressure perfectly.

As for the rest of it:  you are still the goddess!  Only the lake
goddess could be handling all you have on your plate right now <g>

I don't know how long it's been high, I suspect for four months are
longer. I have really felt CRAPPY since Lilli was born. I had high
blood pressure for the last 2 months and then took a major drop due to
a postparduam hemmoage.  I don't have a home mon. kit...I looked at
some yesterday..but felt so lousy I just left without one. Stress
reduction and exercise...hhuuummm..full time job...full time mom...part
time caregiver for mom...exercise isn't on the list...I try and walk as
much as possible daily...I park so I have to walk to my
building...stress reduction..HA!!  I will look in to the ZONE and
see....thanks m....
BTW Lilli is having her picture made in the dress you sent for Katie 6
years ago. ;O)  All three girls will have had their photo in that
dress. :O)

I have taken Lisinopril for absolutely YEARS. This is the very first time I
have heard that it shouldn't be taken with an NSAID.

Nanny - 21 Jan 2007 06:52 GMT
We share the same things:  a Mom with dementia and BP that got out of
control recently.  Except, I'm age 62.  Actually, I proved the adage that
"high blood pressure is the silent killer".  We have a granddaughter who is
diabetic, so when she was here she asked if she could take her BP on our
monitor.  Then, my hubby and I got in the game and took ours.  My upper
number was 188 and lower 90+.  I was so surprised, as I had been getting
good readings at the doctor's office.  Actually, it scared me a little.  I'm
on 2 BP meds, and one of them, Lozol, I hadn't been  taking regularly,
thinking (wrongly) that the 2 might bring my BP down too low.

Well, I squelched that thinking right away and began to faithfully take
*both* every day and monitoring my BP often.  The last one I took this
morning was 130/72, so I think I have it back under control.

So, here's a big cyber hug and hoping yours comes down as well!  Nanny

Hi Nanny,
Next time at the docs take your measuring device with you and compare it to
the readings they get. You can then know how accurate yours is and adjust
the readings accordingly.

Thanks, Gary.  I've never done that.  Nanny

I'm a newbie to the Arthritis ng, usually post on AMF, but my arthritis
has become more of a problem over the past six months, so I have been
lurking here picking up helpful advice.  I saw this post this morning,
and wanted to tell you of my own experience.  I have had hypertension
for many years and am on a combination of two hypertensives and a
diuretic to keep it under only fair control.  But I recently was
referred to an endo for my diabetes and as part of her lab screening,
she did a Vit D level and found that I had an almost unmeasurable
amount of Vit D floating around, and put me on 10,000mg once a week
along with the OsCal with Vit D that I had already been taking.  Well
that Vitamin D has greatly reduced my hypertension, from 150/100 on a
fairly regular basis to 110/70 in a matter of weeks.  You might want to
ask your doctor for a Vit D level and hopefully you will have found one
answer to your hypertension.  As to the mom with dementia, the crappy
genes, work and the kids, I can't help much.  But home health aides for
your mother might be one way to reduce your personal responsibility
while making sure she is well cared for, and it's usually covered by
Medicare, the kids will grow up!--fran

hey fran, hopefully along with it came a significant reduction in pain
levels. That appears to help alot of D deficiencies.
Sorry you gotta add another health NG to your schedule but this is a
good one / maybe the best. Certainly can't find a better group of
caring people on the internet.

which NSAID are you on?  Is it a COX-2, what remains on the market, that is?
I ask because my bp was widely variable on the COX2s, though we never made
the connection at the time.  Never as high as yours, but they came close to
wanting to treat it a few times.  When bextra went off the market and we went
to trying older NSAIDs for me, my bp returned to its historically low-normal
levels.
