GARY Z - 12 Jan 2007 13:54 GMT Latest saga, Wed. my back was bothering me at work with soreness. Can't think of any reason for it though. Yesterday I couldn't put any vertical pressure on my lower spine without great pain. Hard time getting out bed, couldn't bend or straighten if I did, range of motion in left leg very poor. Would stand up from my desk and take a step and be stuck in that position 'till I could get my body positioned just so. Finally went home at noon, took an extra pain med and slept the afternoon away in a comfortable position on the couch. Still pretty bad last night. Woke this morning and am at least 50% improved. Range of motion returning, much less pain and stiffness. What ever slipped out of place must have settled back into where it needs to be. Should be fine by tomorrow if history has anything meaningful to it. See doc this a.m. for BP and will let him know about it. Thanks for listening, GaryZ

ladylove77 - 12 Jan 2007 18:01 GMT Gary, hope the doc can help you determine what happened, and how to keep it from happening again. Gwen

I hope your back heals quickly. Hopefully the dr can tell you what is going on with it. Take care and rest up as much as you can.

> Latest saga, > Wed. my back was bothering me at work with soreness. Can't think of any [quoted text clipped - 11 lines] > Thanks for listening, > GaryZ Gary Z - 16 Jan 2007 15:27 GMT Had an ice storm Sat/Sun. Sunday eve took the dog out for watering and took one step to come back in, feet went flying, jaw hit edge of porch step just below the teeth (thank god!) Nice bruise on the lower jaw today!! Anxiously waiting for the pendulum to swing the other way. Doc increased BP meds. Caught an inadvertent change in medication, actually a screwup. When he gave me samples of the new BP meds he wrote one med in his chart and then grabbed a different one to hand to me (actually I think his nurse did but am not positive.) I was a bit confused 'cause I asked him about the diuretic component and he said there was no diuretic in this. Now, I know there was 'cause I check all my meds on the computer before taking them. But, I said ok then. Got home and before taking first dose checked the other bottle (lower dose) and it was a totally different med than what he gave me. Back to the clinic. Finally got it figured out and the right medication in hand. Decided not to do anything with the back yet as it was improving. Just wanted to make sure he got it documented in my charts. On a better note, Mike bowled his preliminary round for the state junior singles cahmpionship. Rolled a 695 series. Though he finally had his first 700, but fell short. First game hurt him as he opened in the 9th and 10th frames for a 168. But he responded with a 275 and a 256! 200 pins over his average. Way to go kiddo. Final preliminary round standings will be posted on the 28th and the winner goes to the sectional round and then to state finals. Both Chubbs and the ankle biter (Poe) are doing fine though Chubbs has gotten jealous of any attention I pay to Poe. I've been trying to make sure I pay special attention to Chubbs, but it hasn't helped much yet. Chubbs also has developed ringworm either from the little cat we rescued (who is gone), or from Mike bringing it home from his volunteer work at TAILS. Either way, vet wants $600 in medication to treat the two dogs with pills. That ain't gonna happen!! Need some alternative. A friend said to get a Rx and take it to the local pharmacy. Would be much cheaper. I also see things on line, but don't know if I can trust them and thier claims. Cold today and rest of week, Stay warm, stay well, and have a pain-free day! GaryZ
Nann Bell - 17 Jan 2007 04:49 GMT Wow, Gary, you just can't stand to lead a dull life, can you? ;-)
Puddin' (cat) got what apparently was ringworm last spring when we took him walking in a state park. The treatments of & from the vet (at a tenth of what you are quoting!) didn't help much. It was entertaining to watch an energetic cat on pred, but the ringworm keep up. I did some online research on ringworm and learned that Program for fleas actually helps ringworm, though they have no idea why. Even found a journal article on it from somewhere. I ordered some from 1800petmeds and he began healing soon after I gave it to him. Took a while to heal completely, but it was a steady improvement & a great relief! Don't know if this applies to dogs as well as cats, but you might want to investigate.
Meanwhile, congratulations to Mike, keep checking out what the doc gives you to take and *please, please, please* try to keep your feet under you when walking!

Squirrely - 18 Jan 2007 01:39 GMT Oh ouch, I hurt and cringe just hearing about your fall Gary. I hope it heals quickly and doesn't hurt too much.
I am so glad you caught the med messup. That was a good thing.
Mike, so proud of you. You did good at bowling. Keep up the good work. I am with your dad on that one and say Way to go kiddo.
Glad that Chubbs and Poe are doing ok. Hope you can find some kind of med that is not that expensive to help them with the ringworm.
You take care and no more kissing the porch step, sidewalk, floor, etc. You hear me Gary, or do I have to come back there and cushion everything for you. ;-)

Sanchona - 13 Jan 2007 14:08 GMT I feel so guilty when I read of so much pain in this forum. It makes me think I'm so lucky, and not whinge at the minor pains I suffer.
Get well soon, Gary.
