Just last weekend I saw a program on the food channel where the guy visited
a store that makes it's won chocolate and one of its big sellers was
chocolate that had beer as an ingredient. Amazing.

It's been awhile since I've mentioned ETHYL M CHOCOLATE FACTORY
AND CACTUS GARDEN in Henderson, just outside Las Vegas.

ETHYL M was named after the great-(maybe great-great-) grandmother
of a co-founder of M&M's after he retired and became bored and
decided to start something new.

ETHYL M is the originator (as far as I can tell) of alcohol-filled
chocolates.   At least it is responsible for California re-writing
laws to permit candies filled with alcohol to be sold in the state.

A mixed box (about $26) has every imaginable brand name
alcohol inside the chocolates.

They had stores across county - even in Hawaii - but closed
all of them.  Nowadays you can only buy in Las Vegas and
Henderson, or by mail.

Even if you're on the wagon, stop and walk through the cactus
garden.  It's worth a side trip if you're ever in Las Vegas.   You
can also take a free guided tour of the chocolate factory and
see how ingredients are placed inside those filled candies.  The
tour ends in a tasting-sales room with non-alcoholic samples.

Yeserree bob,
Was there last Christmas time. Veeeerrry expensive. The cactus garden was
wonderful as it was all lighted for Christmas with millions of tiny lights.
Did it as part of a tour trip to the Hoover Dam. Mike got a shirt and we
each had a bit of chocolate. Go figure!

hey, I can believe it - a local brewery opened near us recently and they have
a raspberry lager (delicious!) made with local fruit and a maple porter made
with local maple syrup (we know the syrup producers, have visited the
operation).  If that stuff can go into beer, then beer can go into chocolate!

I think that my hubby should send me there as a belated birthday
present - don't y'all?

And I suspect that chocolate is _never_ OTP here. :0)

Methinks I should plant some cocoa bean plants next to the ASA sandbox
- who wants to be the one to make the chocolate from scratch????

Chocolate *OFF TOPIC*????   HERE ????

Oh, dear, I'm having a spell or something.  Somebody quick bring
some chocolate to steady me...  a Ghirardeli 'square' would calm
me right down...

Goodness me, Chief, don't ever suggest that again, even in jest.
My BP just shot off the chart, and my endorphin pool went
straight down the drain.    Jeeeeze.

Do you have any idea how many ASA gimps just risked life and limb,
running to check that their chocolate 'stash' was intact?  And I'll
bet that at least half of them just now put "chocolate" on tomorrow's
shopping list.  For the third time.

Whew, that's the closest thing to a hot flash I've had in 8 years!
Excuse me for awhile.  My doctor just ordered me a LARGE
mocha chocolatta infusion, and I've gotta run to Walgreen's
to pick it up.  Thank heavens for 24-hour chocolate connections.
