Hi,
Has anyone out there taken Prednisone? I have Polymyalgia and that's what
I'm taking..I don't know how it's suppose to effect you. My face is puffy
and I bleed so easily. The Doctor had me down to 10 mgs. but I just can't
get through Christmas this way. Did most of my shopping on the internet..but
missed going to the department storesand Malls. My legs are so weak..and
sometimes I shake..My Dr. said that if I wasn't any better, to go up to 30
mgs. for a few days and see how I'm doing, and drop down slowly again..I
went up to 30mgs yesterday, don't see and difference yet..
Anyone have it of knows anyone that does, I would sure love your
input.....Thank You.........Nel

After 6 years I finally got off Prednisone 2 weeks ago.  I had tried
to taper down from 5 mg several times but never succeeded.  I have
also been battling an allergic rash for about the same time which
finally got so bad I stopped taking the Pred. altogether.  I think its
the culprit.  Of course I slowly flared and have been miserable for a
week. Got a system cortisone shot yesterday and I'm somewhat relieved.
I am now on Humira and methotrexate but may have to try Remicade in
order to stay off of prednisone.  I'm not going back.

How did the prednisone may you feel? Did it cause your skin to bruise
easily? and heal slowly?
Were you weak in the legs and have trouble climbing stairs? I know they
give it for a few different things, so was yours Polymyalgia? I have no
pain...
 Thanks.........Nel....

Hi dose pred (over 125mg/day) made me require insulin! Also, pred makes
me very angry and aggressive. I'm on high doses of anabolic steroids to
keep my marrow working, and all they do is make me mellow and a bit
happier than I usually am (a blessing given my circumstances).
Corticosteroids, on the other hand, are a nightmare for me
psychologically. My skin also felt like it was loose when I was on pred,
and I gained weight at an incredible rate (very little weight gain with
the anabolic steroids, but high to mid dose corticosteroids and I turn
into a walrus, with a matching termper!).

Many people around the world are waiting for a marrow transplant. Please

My symptoms while on Pred were:  itching, moon face, and an overall feeling
of my insides racing.  However, it DOES work on inflammation.  Nanny

I'm on 20mgs. now but hope someday to make it less. I legs are so weak
without it and still are at 20mg..maybe I should stay on that dosage for a
while and see if I can better...
Thanks...guys.....Nel
