Hi all,

Well I believe I finally beat the cellulitis.  Took over a month, calf
still red in a couple of places and a bit of a wound, dime size there
still.  Took an extra week of antibiotics, cipro this time, then I was
able to get back on my Enbrel, thank God for small mercies.  I was
really in a bad way off my Enbrel this time, took my first two shots
last Saturday and once again, almost immediate relief.

Dog shows........Chantilly really outdid herself at the show, we were a
pretty good team.  I entered her in Rally Advanced in 6 shows, she
qualified in 5, took 1) fourth place, 3) second places and 1) first
place and a finishing title at my local obedience club with a 99 score
(out of 100 in Rally).  We missed out on a perfect 100 in one show as I
misread the sign and messed up.  Live and learn

We are on a short vacation, classes start again 7th Jan.  She and I will
be training in Rally Advanced Excellent, and will compete as soon as she
can heel "backwards".  I plan on showing her in that class in February
as well as trying out for her Novice Obedience title.  We will be
working in the Open obedience at class and hope to compete in that
category in the fall.  Busy, busy, busy.   Plus I am hoping for another
Aussie pup and also a Dobe again.  Glutton for punishment!

Johnnie are you sure you want an Aussie/Cattle dog mix?  You have your
grandson to think about and Cattle dogs bite.  (probably opened a can of
worms there, apologies to Cattle dog owners).  My girlfriend was a PAC
officer and would prefer facing a pit than a cattle dog.  Something to
think about.  Still looking for you.  May have an Aussie litter lined up
soon.  Let me know.

Merry Christmas, Happy Hanukah and Happy New Year to all.

Oh Lyn hopefully you have beat the cellulitis. I have another friend that
has had it so bad and it keeps returning. So I feel for you. I hope it is
gone for good now.

I am glad you are able to get back on the Enbrel. I hope it helps right
away.

Good about the dog shows and Chantilly.

It sure does sound like you have been busy and not letting grass grow under
your feet. ;-)

Take care and you are thought of often.

Lyn, sorry for just now seeing this. I have been bedridden with a
nasty flare from overdoing it on the house construction. I am not set
on the cattledog but do prefer a mixed breed with the shepard
dominating.
will email you soon. busy weekend with my son graduating from UofA
tommorrow morning.......Proud papa. It has been tough with a 5 year old
and a full time job but he did good.

congrats on the shows and good to hear you are feeling better.

Big day at the U of A.  No tortilla tossing I presume.  Congratulations
to you and your son.

Look forward to hearing from you.

It is a tough job with a 5 year old.  You deserve to be a very proud papa!

Nice to see you around Johnie and Lyn.  Now just keep a watch on the
activity and get better Johnie.  Too hard to overdo it with construction
though - I learnt that just directing the renos on the house.

Thinking of both of you.

Lyn, i think that there are always a few tossing tortillas. they really
cracked down on them a coupla years ago and it has faded away. Never
really understood the controversy. I have a lot of Mexican friends who
didn't understand the reaction either. and thanks. I really am proud of
my kid. will be talking to you about the pups very soon.

kelly, it is just too damn frustrating for me to stand around and watch
people including lucy and miguel do work i have always been able to do
and enjoy doing so i finally broke down a coupla weeks ago and framed
in the bathroom with just a little help. I have been paying dearly for
it. oh well, i did feel good while i was doing it. i think that the
stress of dealing with subcontractors was as big a culprit as the
physical activity. i needed a break so im taking one for a few weeks.
after the holidays will start pushing hard with a little rest behind
me. should be able to finish in 2 months. can see the finish line and
that feels good. now as long as i don't blow the budget...>g<

WHAT!!!!???
I'm supposed to have a budget???!!!!
No wonder the credit card didn't get paid off this month! :-)
I'm not framing rooms, but am doing some extensive room renovations and have
some idea how you are feeling. I can work for a few hours, but then need
pretty good break.
My pain meds do help and allow me to do some work the following day. Then
comes Mon. and I'm
back to work, which is like a physical rest for me. I haven't done much of
this in a very long time
and it does feel good mentally to do it.  Sometimes I think I feel more
useless than I really am. Then again, sometimes I prove I can't do that
stuff anymore. Gotta love a crap shoot!
Anyway, take it easy, go slow, it's a hobby these days!

Johnie and Gary,

I sure hope your flaring is short lived. I am flaring too. Have been trying
to help Jim with the leaves. I should know better but I don't. ;-)

You both take care and heal quickly.

Hi Jo,
Thanks. My "flares" are usually short-lived (day or two) and usually caused
by something I shouldn't have been doing, but did anyway. I "heal" within a
couple of days, and having a short memory these days go right back to doing
what caused me trouble to begin with! Put the sons' floor in and some of the
trim so, he can move the basics back into his room. I can recover some of my
bedroom, livingroom, and hallway (small place.) Yaaaay!

Gary,

glad to hear that your flares don't last long.

I keep doing things I shouldn't either so I can't talk much. I never learn.
;-)

Glad you are getting your house to what you want it to be for you and Mike.

Take care

Like gary i got a real short memory also and will be back at it
tommorrow morning but i will not be doing anything that is repetitive
or requires me getting up and down alot. Repetitive stuff is not good
for me. There is such a variety of work to do right now i can keep it
lite and move from thing to thing. What i can't afford is to overdue it
again this month and lose any more days. No matter how good or
dependable a sub-contractor is you gotta stay right on top of em if its
gonna get done right and on time.
Got to get all the electrical finished in the next coupla weeks to stay
on schedule so wish me luck.

Thanks for the well wishes. Gary, we will have to talk shop one of
these days...>g<....

heehee, I think a lot of us suffer from that problem!  (I've been really
trying to do my weight training more regularly lately so I can increase the
reps - pushed it yesterday despite feeling poorly - regretting that today!
so be it, may need a longer rest this time!)

Nann, if you are careful lite weight training can really help. I am
back to riding the excercise bike but no longer going into hill modes.
I know how frustrating it is to see or feel any progression but I keep
telling myself that gentle toning is all I can expect. I miss my
healthy body right now more than I ever have. The house has forced me
into a whole new level of acceptance. Acceptance can really be hard but
so freakin' necessary.
Take your memory medicine before you start back in...>g<...

LOL, today I had the spousal substitute for memory medicine. I kept hoping
meds would kick the pain down enough to exercise but Mike ordered me not to -
he's good at recognizing the signs of how I really feel!  I had to admit he
was right when sweeping the breezeway laid me out from costo pain.  The final
straw was our cat crawling on me all day, trying to help me feel better.

Boy, do I know what you mean about missing our healthy bodies!  Some people
we know are building a cedar canoe which is being raffled off for one of our
churches.  How I'd love to help and learn!  I've always loved such stuff.
But it's a non-starter for me these days.  I couldn't even work on the shirt
I'm currently making today.  Our double-edged acceptance - some folks think
it means we're giving in, but it really is the only hope we have of managing
what's going on with our bodies.

One of these days, I'll catch up to those hob-nail booted cattle who trampled
my ribcage and I'll invite all of you to the barbecue!

You are so right, Nann. My husband keeps telling me when I need to lie down, and
he's usually right. My fingers are very sore these days and I am going to have
to resort to e-mail greetings instead of snail-mail cards. Writing cramps me up.
Typing is easier. Then I can just put people in the Bcc field and it will be
done. I don't like doing that, but I have to.

And I want to go to that barbecue! Good idea.

And Merry Christmas to you and others here who celebrate it. Happy Hanukkah to
others and to the ones who don't celebrate either, be well and pain-free.

Well you take care of yourself and don't overdo too much. Listen to someone
who doesn't listen to herself tell that to her brothers in crime. ;-)

(the crime being we overdo it all the time) LOL

I hope all goes well for you and that you can soon get some rest.

I saw you were going to be putting the grandson to work. I bet he will have
a blast with that. Have fun.
