Is anyone here knowledgeable regarding folk lore on signs of winter weather?
I just noticed a hornets' nest near the *top* of a tree!  It's above the
height of the power lines!!!!  Do I need to start stocking up?  Will I have
my DH and SS underfoot and in my hair a lot this winter??  I need to
mentally prepare myself for this.

Thanks!

don't know about hornets.  Here the quantity of cones in the evergreens is
supposed to be indicative.  The trees were just loaded with them this fall
and that suppossedly means a long, hard winter.  The weather service says
it'll be mild thanks to El Nino.  We'll see who's more accurate.
