Hello again,
Maybe you all can help me with something else? I'm trying to get into
journalism (I've done a little bit of writing already..a few things
published but not very recent) and I would love to be able to write
something for Arthritis Today magazine. I've tried calling the
national Arthritis Foundation office in Georgia and left messages for
someone in the editing dept to call me back. No return phone call. I've
also emailed them and never heard back. What the heck?! Anybody know
how I could get in touch with them and possibly be able to do this??
Arthritis Today is a great magazine but...as a young person myself, I
feel it's really lacking the "youth perspective," if you know what I
mean. I feel a desire and calling to contribute to the "arthritis
cause" with my writing. So yeah..I would love to do this. Any advice?
Thanks much!
Angela
ps - I haven't talked to my local chapter yet about it. Well, I'm
going to write for the local Tipsheet newsletter but haven't brought up
Arthritis Today yet. Maybe I should ask them and see what they have to
say. I know the president of the MN North-Central chapter..maybe she
could hook me up?

Angela, it appears none of us have replied! Personally, I've found
contacting the Ntaional office ar the magazine about ANYTHING to be a
frustrating experience. (My own pet peeve is all those advertising cards
they put in the magazine - they are so stiff and make turning the pages more
difficult, but they prefer to advertising dollars from them to consideration
for their target market. but I won't continue to discourage you with my own
issues with them! LOL) I volunteered with the Mass. Chapter when we lived in
Boston - lots of nice folk there in the office, but they too found dealing
with National frustrating.
There is a free-lance writer who sometimes writes for Arthritis Today who
periodically posts a question here. Here's a link for his most recent
message on Google Groups -

You might write him and see if he'll give you any advice or tell you who to
contact. I had brief contact with him about one article and he seemed to be
a decent fellow.
