Luckly I did get to see my rheum. doctor and nothing was torn (all he
did was x-rays so I guess that was all he needed), He said was still
just OA and bruised cartledge behind my knees.  My left middle finger
also has OA and I am still in horrible pain.  I think he feels since I
am on morphine I am just a crybaby and didn't answer one question about
pain control.   He said less than 6 sentences. There was a winter storm
warning you see.  Snowed enough to dust the ground. In TX that's a
reason for the news station to stay on air for all afternoon and night.
Got to film all the idots flying off the high 5. It's 5 overpasses
that layer one on top of the other. So high they flew all of their
helicopters to catch each crash.  (To me it's little more than
ambulance chasing.  Once at work someone called me asking me if Randy
and the kids were at home - they'd seen my family's type of  car
crashed and on fire on our hwy - it wasn't them Thank God - but I never
forgave that nosey neighbor)
OK my friends I need your experience since my doctor freaked on me.
Do I bear weight on my knees? Do I tape my finger? Do I do any
exercises? I am taking ecotrin by the hand full. Ice, heat and pills
and on my 50th year I can't drive anymore, I also have narcolepsy that
is getting worse. In my own mind it's no different than driving drunk.
I can't take a chance of killing or crippling someone else or ruining
my family.

So do I ignore the pain? Do I walk and do things I know will keep me up
an nights?  The Dr.did say the pain in my knees would be gone in a
month. But not how it would go.  He is one of "those" Dr.'s short,
quick, to the point, you didn't get it, your problem. But to be fair I
just wanted to know if I had torn ligaments and my husband didn't want
to wait till the 20th to find out.  He now wants me to keep the
appointment. But money is tight like all Christmas time are and I don't
think it's worth a "present".  Randy's back problem is getting scary
and I am worried again.

Any help gang?

Hiya, Darlene,

Glucosamine/Chondroitin Sulfate and MSM and Vitamin C. The G/CS (
there's this OTC stuff called Osteo Bi-Flex as an example) is for the knee
ligaments and tendons themselves -- especially since they're bruised) and
the MSM/Vitamin C is for pain and flexability. Even tho' the Ecotrin is
coated asprin you don't wanna be taking handfuls of it for the sakeof your
intestines, OK?

Follow the label on whatever kind of G/CS you get and on the MSM/C
start out low with approx. 500mg.MSM to150mg. Vit. C. You can also get one
kind ( tthe name escapes me) that actually has the G/CS and MSM altogether
(it has the Arthritis Foundation recommending it) and then you'd just need
the added Vit.C.

Give it a try...it won'treally break the bank at Christmas time.

Hugs from Rosie

You might also try some of the ointments out on the market, especially the
ones with capsacin in them.  It's possible even Ben Gay type ointments would
help some.  I haven't had much experience with your type of problems, but
based on all the sprains I've had, those might help the tendons & ligaments
heal.

As for movement, I'd suggest GENTLE movement throughout the day, to help keep
things loosened up a bit and keep things circulating.  Of course, life
doesn't alwyas co-operate with such goals, especially this time of year, but
it's something to aim for.
