Don, I've been told that I could not have an MRI following a joint
replacement.

Hi Chief,
I thought the same thing and then they did another mri and told me that
wasn't true. I have fake toe, screws in foot, and metal plate in neck. The
neck was the sight of the last mri with the plate already in place. It
caused some dispersal of signal and made for pretty crappy looking
pictures, but they could do it. I think the metal in my body is non-ferrous
and isn't subject to magnetism??

Gary, I had not thought of that angle. It's entirely possible.

I once told an orthopedic doc my pain was at 15 & he replied that I must
be dead because 10 is the point where you pass out from the pain. I
rethought my estimate by his explanation & figured I was at about 9.5.

Do you have a recliner that doesn't have the foot rest come up if you
push the back back? I have a Lazy Boy recliner that I use it for
traction when ever my back gets mean.
I just sit with my back pushed against the chair back & let my legs hang
down, then I push against the arms of the chair so me body is stretched
between my shoulders & my knees.
If you do it right you can feel the disk stretching back to where it is
supposed to be.
Repeat as needed.

((((((((((((don))))))))))) i don't wish that kind of pain on anybody, but
it's familiar. my inversion table helps in that traction kind of way, too.
even though i'm still undergoing yet another level of epidurals, i keep
fixating on those drx9000 treatments i keep seeing on television . i asked
my neurologist about them, a few weeks ago, if he thought they might help my
spine. i had been actually expecting him to debunk the idea (as yet another
of my wild fantasies in my freedom from pain quest, like my bungee jumping
idea), but he said, "i know exactly what you are talking about and it's
worth a try." now, that really surprised me! but is also making me
consider it more seriously. so far, i've got the phone number off tv for a
local clinic.LOL<laughing at myself, because of how i tend to approach these
kinds of things---teeny bit at a time.>

heehee, I've been helping with getting an elderly friend to go to PT for some
hip problems. That's a story in itself. But....... she tends to tell people
her pain, on the 1-10 scale, is a 15 or 20. She's usually saying this when
she's fairly nicely dressed, wearing full makeup, and chatting away with
folks. I have difficulty equating that with a 15-20 pain level.........
I know she does hit a solid 7-8 when he massages certain spots based on her
reaction.

Don, I hope he gets back very soon, and indeed does get it straightened out.

Don,
Prayers coming your way for a fast healing on your back.
That is terrible about the news report.
I don't know any quick heal for your back. Are you in a back brace for it. I
sure hope so. I know when my back has gone out really bad I have been in a
back brace up to a month at a time.
I am thinking of you. I can't imagine the pain you are in. I hope you are
doing better each day.

Ouch! I hope you get more treatment SOON. That nerve pain from slipped
discs is simply the WORST. I simply love the traction tables at PT when my
discs start acting up.
(((((((((((((Don))))))))))))))) big hug, trying to shake things back where
they should be!
