Hello everyone,
I have received several emails over the last few days about the card
exchange. I am going to do just a little update and try to explain why
I am not doing the card exchange this year. In the words of queen
Elisabeth, I too am having my annus horribilus this year.
As many of you know, my mom died in August. Our house was condemned
with toxic mold in October. I have two more days of health insurance
-pac advantage left california and my agency has gone to Kaiser. I
live very far from a kaiser but won't be eligible for HIPAA portability
until August so basically will be without my doctor support team for a
eight months.
I am now living in a room in my office alternating with staying in
friends guest bedrooms. I do not take well to being homeless. When I
started looking for a place to rent in August, I discovered my identity
had been stolen and my sterling credit was now Fair as someone had
gotten credit cards in my name and had maxed them out (but paid the
bills) We know who but it is taking forever to get my credit cleared.
In california where a small dumpy studio rents for 1000.00 a month and
a 2 bedroom house is 2000.00, every landlord requires good credit.
Logan is still having health problems and DADA problems. My mom
supposedly died without a will (very unlikely since she has a rather
sizable estate) and I will probably have get heavy with my little
sister about this situation. I, a committed non-drama queen, am
immersed in Drama up to my ears and am just too self absorbed for
words. Funny thing is that these are just the big points-I seem to
have lost the magic I have that makes the world work smoothly because
in between these big events, the little events (my bank put an
accidental hold on an account and bounced checks-they agree it was
their fault but also that it had never happened before, car which is
new is screwing up, I'm back on pred and gaining weight, and I am
probably clincally depressed as I spend more time crying than not) are
daily and debilitating.
So sorry for the rant. I usually do better not airing my stuff
publically but I have known some of you for ten years and my silence
seemed to be getting more attention than it needed.
So, I thank you for thinking about me and asking why I am not on the
card list. I seriously don't have an address other than the office and
a PO box which I wind up checking rarely. Next year hopefully when I
actually regain my credit, finish suing my insurance company, have a
home and health insurance and feel empowered enough to take care of my
family, I'll be back on the list but this year I can barely answer
emails. So please don't send cards or presents this year as I am
finding my mail is still not being forwarded from the old address.
I do love all of you and thanks so much for keeping me in "heart" even
though I didn't sign up for cards. Also, I do read those emails-so I
would appreciate it if you kept me on your email list.

ok, m'dear,
So here's some other things I've thought from time to time in the past
and you prolly have, recently, too....
I'm tired of being the strong one and I'm weary of holding it all
together and I wanna be vulnerable instead of strong for just a little while
and it's so danged unfair and whut kind of Karma did I have to cause
THIS??!!?? and don't ever never ever say whut's next ( because it very may
well be even worser!) and when is it gonna end and I need someone to take
care of me rather than being the caretaker all of the time, etc.
Ya don't hafta be a muscle-bound Merciful Goddess, M...a nice rant/whine
is so rare from ya that I doubt any Gimps would begrudge ya one or two
or....

You have done so much good, for so many people, in so many ways. I can't
imagine what the universe is thinking here. I can only hope that all of this
drama plays itself out quickly, and you get back on your feet, doing the
things you love to do.
Much love to you and your little family.

I'm with you Kelly...
melinda, you have many friends out here and if the universe is
speaking/its screaming "lean on those friends".
Unfortunately, "Bad things happen to Good people" in this universe. I
do know that there are people around you that look to you for guidance
and inspiration and watching you deal with adversity will make them
better people. This will all turn around and each day when i light your
candle my thoughts are that it be today.

Melinda,
You are in my prayers. I know what it's like as I remember where I was 3
years ago. If there is anything I can do for you, please let me know.
And don't be afraid to ask for help. I was always so damned independent
and it was a life's lesson learned for me to ask others for help. We are
all here for you, so just let us know what you need and we'll figure out
a way.
Prayers and HUGS,
Carole

Hi M!
You know you really caught me off guard with this post my dear. Come on, you
can move in with me for awhile. You can use the spare closet I have reserved
for my mom if dad passes before her. I've always promised it to her, but
she's not ready yet. Or he's not ready yet, can't tell. Anyway, it's nice
and cozy. Just big enough for a sleeping bag standing up.
Hang in there. Sounds like things will improve fairly soon. Otherwise, it's
the closet for you!!

It seems that Mike and I are the Hotel of the Family and friends and friends
of friends...Melinda...I am sorry that you do not live in OK...I always have
a spare Sofa or room...Usually we have someone on the waiting list..LOL..but
I could probably move you right in...and if not...Well like I said...the
sofa is available right now...
I know that this is not a laughing matter and that you could write your own
"Drama" right now..
But what Rosie said rings true...
Never say never or that it can't get worse...Because you know it will...but
then I always say....It will get better...
Sending hugs your way until it does...
And like some one said...We wouldn't begrudge you a whine or two...So come
on in and lean on us a bit and whine as you need...
Hugs Cindy

Hi Melinda,
It sounds like it is time for the Care Giver to ask for help. You have
given so much of your self to others & since, what goes around comes
around, help for you must be on it's way & all you need to do is ask.
Sending Good Thoughts,
{{{{Melinda}}}}

Just because you get a card doesn't mean you are required to reciprocate. We
love you and want to celebrate with you - even when you don't feel
especially like celebrating. Just remember "this, too, shall pass" and hang
in there, Honey. {{{{{M}}}}}

Wow! Melinda, you have a lot of things going on. I wish I could help
you. I have a spare bedroom. The distance is a bit of a bummer though.
Please let me know if htere is anything I can do to help. I have been
thinking of you and wondering how you are doing. I barely have time to
post anymore, but do try to read when I can.
I really would like to help.

I gotta agree with all the wise words about not being the strong one for a
while (or not wanting to anyway) and about it being time to let your world
give back to you for a while. Rant and whine to us - rant and whine all your
soul needs. You've been there for us throughout the years, let us return the
favor. That was one of the hardest things for me to learn, letting others
help me. A friend finally got through to me that people who like us WANT to
do something to help this person they think is so special. It's a toughie
for those of us who are used to being strong and independent.
Do your doctors know the situation with your insurance? Some docs have the
discretion to waive fees, or at least to play games with them for a while to
get you through all of this.
Meanwhile, I'm sending major prayers and good thoughts your way. Remember,
please, to give yourself some quiet moments to regain that connection with
the universe. I wish I could send you some mail so let us know when you have
a more dependable address.
Need a break from all the "stuff"? We have a spare room and a loving cat who
is good for the soul. There's a total dearth of acupuncture physicians here
so we could even put you to work. Of course, there's also a limited patient
pool, unless you're trained to work on deer and elk. If you're worried about
that pred weight, we can even offer you some wonderful exercise shoveling
snow! <eg>
