Marijuana to help pain

Has anyone heard of mixing marijuana and regular alcohol in a bowl and then
using that to dip one hands in to aleviate joint pain? I spend the holiday
with an elderly lady who is know to be a bit kooky I admit, but swears by
this remedy.

I would think that a little of it gets into the system the regular way
as well (though she may never admit it)
without some delivery system, I can not see that much would get
absorbed through the skin. LOL
