Hi, Everybody;

Has anyone ever experienced diclonefac (or arthrotec) causing a rise in
blood pressure? An info? I see sites saying it can cause water retention and
interact w/blood pressure meds. But nothing about BP itself.

BTW - my Mom is going to the new oncologist today. Hopefully it will signal
a rise in the quality of care she'll get.

Hi Adelle,

I believe that any NSAID can cause a rise in blood pressure.  I know
several of them has caused mine to go up.  Hope your Mom does better
now.

my pcp told me that nsaids do that, when my bp went up (generally it's
117/76).  wishing your mom the best of everything with this new onc.

Mom didn't get to go to the oncologist. Seemed the Nursing Home where the
rehab floor is located had an outbreak of Norwalk virus or something
similar. She hasn't caught it. But no visitors; no going out. But she is
scheduled to come home on Friday, so we'll see.

my everythings are crossed, in hopes that all goes well for her. hopefully,
you are taking good care of you, as well.

i've never heard of the norwalk virus, but then, there must be thousands of
viruses i've never heard of before.

Its the 'cruise ship' virus. Pretty contagious.

Oh, I hope she avoids the virus.  We had that crud our last year in Cambridge
and it is really nasty.  Were they able to reschedule her appointment fairly
soon?

I love this oncologist already!! He is squeezing her into his schedule today
because his next appointment is December 15th and didn't want her to wait
that long.

She is also being discharged today!!!! Yay!!! And none too soon. They were
letting the 'healthy patients gather in a side room for meals, and last
night two of the people who the staff thought were over the virus threw up
in that gathering room. The staff has been dippy at this place. Part of it
is a language issue. They are mostly Asian, but from many different
countries so there aren't even many who can speak to one another and get on
the same page.

wonderful!  I know it's a difficult specialty, but that makes it even better
to hear of a doc who cares so much for his patients.

Oh good, being out of the nursing home should be good for her spirits.

Adelle,

This is good to hear. I hope she now gets the help she needs. I hope she
stays healthy and hasn't gotten the virus they were all dealing with.

Glad she is getting released. I am happy for her and you also.

Adelle,
I was just told to go off my naproxen because of the blood pressure going up
I was always around 120/70 and now it is about 140/90 and up and when I go
off the naproxen it goes down.

It seems to me that fluid retention in itself would be a factor in BP going
up.  Mine has actually been better on diclofenac than it was on COX-2s,
though I really liked Bextra for other reasons.  But everyone's different and
fluid retention can cause other problems.

Got my fingers crossed and prayers said for better care for your mom.
