Saw a new-ish RD a week or so ago. Just haven't had time to write about
it yet.
So apparently all my symptoms all this time, including blood tests and
xrays and whatnot? All in my head.
Yup. You heard it here first. I'm imagining all the xrays, all the blood
tests. All I need is some more exercise and to lose some weight and stop
being a lazy complainer.
Oh and she wouldn't refill my pain meds (which allow me to sleep and
thereby deal with the days better and be more active and break the
vicious cycle I'm in - you all know how that works) and she would only
extend my parking placard a month.
B@stard.
On a related but different note, Tish seems to think it may be Lupus
rather than AS, and I'm starting to wonder if she's not right. There
seem to be a lot of symptoms not explained by AS that would be explained
by Lupus. Like the facial rash that pops up whenever I'm feeling badly.
I have an appt with my GP in a few days, and will ask him to run some
more tests including checking for the antibodies for Lupus to see what
shows up.
Fun!
Oh, and I have some damage in my upper back as shown on the most recent
xrays last week (my first xrays to show any *significant* damage) but
that doesn't mean anything really, per the RD. Stupid.
Yep, I'm still mad. But it's all in my head anyway...

I can sympathise with this crap from some doctors. Its worse when it
comes from someone you respect and trust. Nine months later all those
fractures, at least a dozen in the end, were still there with new
friends and showed up nice and bright on the MRIs. Shopping around and
waiting for the 'next appointment' sucks :-(

Hello stranger! It is good to see you visit once in awhile, even if
the news isn't so great.
Have the recent storms affected you two?
Glad Trish is on the ball and may have come up with something.

egads! another medico dinosaur! i thought they were becoming extinct!
shows you how naive i am. that doctor needs a reality check! she sounds
like the lazy one, to me. ((((((((((((((((((((aim))))))))))))))))) i'm
sorry you had to endure that.
aim, can you get a hold of all or some of your past medical records, like
radiologist reports, labs, mri results and stuff like that? a friend of
mine got tired of this kind of treatment and created a binder, divided it up
into sections, like right shoulder, left shoulder, right knee, left knee,
etc. now she takes that binder with her to any new doctor. she gets no
guff now, but sadly has had doctors look at the binder and tell her she
should retire.
bless tish for paying attention to what she observes. please let us know
what your pcp determines. and while you are at it, hon, ask your pcp for a
referral to a new rd, please.

EXCUSE ME?!?!?!?!?!??!?!?!?!??!?!??!?!
I surely, surely hope your insurance gives you the option of dumping this
"RD" pronto and moving on to a real one. Want to come to Michigan? I have a
very good RD and he's very much into lupus also - severe shortage of
Starbucks though (even Tim Horton's for that matter). It's good you're
seeing your PCP next week - hopefully he'll agree to run some titers on you.
Report back to us, ok?
I was just thinking about you earlier today and hoping that all was still
going well with Tish. It must be, with her still working to get you feeling
better. Knowing that part of your life is going well puts a smile on my
face.

Thanks Nann!! And I may be coming out to MI for a visit sooner rather
than later. Business trip early in 2007 is highly likely. Detroit area,
Boston, and Toronto are all tentatively on the books, though not
necessarily in one trip. May extend the MI one a bit and bring Tish with
me so we can do some investigating to find if she has any living
relatives. Her mom's family was from MI and Ontario (Her mother was
Objibway, aka Metis) and her mom died when T was an infant - she doesn't
know anyone, if there IS anyone, on that side. Her dad's side has all
passed now. So it'd be nice to find a cousin or two.
And yes, things are fabulous there. She is truly my rock. We make a
great team, and my family adores her. MAJOR points from my dad
especially, cuz the two of them are so alike! (go figure... we either
marry our daddy or his polar opposite, they say)
Good to hear from you!

Let me know if you do come to Detroit. We run down there from time to time
for this or that, so driving down to meet up for a visit would be no big
deal. We now call the Detroit area "sub-tropical southern Michigan" - funny
how your mental images can change from north Florida to north Michigan!

Oh, Aim, I'm so sorry you had to go to an idiot like that. Are you still
down in Seattle? There must be someone else you can go to! I wish all
these doctors could go through one day with the pain we have...they
wouldn't be so fast to say we are imagining it!
HUGS,

I am still in Seattle. Thought of you yesterday! I had my appt with my
GP and there was a woman there (Virginia Mason in Seattle) waiting in
the lab. She was on her cell telling someone she'd just been at her RD
and then Xrays and now for the labs, and wasn't looking forward to the
drive back through the Everett-bound traffic after. It was alreaady
about 4:30 and she wasn't going to be leaving Seattle til about 5. Ugh,
I felt badly for her for that one, but it also crossed my mind that she
could have been you! I didn't know what you look like, so I wasn't sure
and then I got called in for my labs so didn't get a chance to be chatty
and get her name.
I doubt it was you anyway, but why don't we try to plan to get together
so I don't have to wonder next time!!

Hi Aim,
No, it wasn't me. I was at my cardiologist's office in Edmonds though.
And I hit the Everett traffic although it was too bad since I got on the
road back to Bellingham at around 3:30 :-))
How are things in SeaTown? :-)

Well, something is up there. <g>
Sorry gal, couldn't resist. You probably have more
smarts than that SOB doctor.

person who doesn't deserve the title "Doctor". GRRRRR this makes me so
angry.
